The Launch of Tina's Teacher Project! |
|
|
Dear Friends and Supporters, This month we are very excited to introduce Tina's Teacher Project, founded with the goal of bringing teachers from the U.S. together with teachers from Tina’s school in rural Tanzania to collaborate and share effective learning strategies and build teaching partnerships. This is a unique opportunity for our teaching volunteers to work side-by-side with teachers at Tina’s classrooms, to build and expand on the current curriculum, learn from one another in co-teaching sessions, and be inspired by the energy, dedication and motivation that our students bring to every classroom. Project volunteers may be credentialed teachers or pre-service teachers who are in the process of getting their credentials. The project is led by REACH Shirati’s longtime supporters who are experienced teachers and have previously traveled to Shirati, Tanzania, to teach at Tina’s School. Watch this inspiriting video about Tina’s Teacher Project and CONTACT US for more information. |

How does YOUR day start? In Nyamagongo, many children start their day with excitement and hope, because they are the proud students of Tina’s Pre and Primary School. They are dressed and on their way to school well before dawn, and for many the journey to school is a three mile walk on dirt roads. But they do it, day after day, with a smile and gratitude that reflects a deep understanding: they understand that the education awaiting them at their beloved school is a promise of a better future. However, we need more scholarships for children coming from the poorest families in this rural community, because even our modest tuition is beyond the reach of some. You can provide this life-changing opportunity for a child with an annual donation of $175, or a recurring monthly donation of just $15, which will provide tuition, uniform, books and daily lunch. Donate NOW and become our partner in improving the future of this community. |

You'd be surprised how much pride can fit into these tattered student notebooks! For most children in this rural area, life is a daily balance between chores at home and homework for school. And for some, there is the added challenge of studying after sunset with insufficient lighting. For Tina's students, these homework and class notebooks represent a precious path to a better future. |

There's no shortage of chores or helping hands around Nyamagongo! |

"Disease comes and goes like rain but health is like the sun that illuminates the entire Village" - African proverb In March, we are hosting our partner, Dr. Chirangi from Shirati Hospital and we are excited to hear first-hand about our joint healthcare projects. Shirati Hospital has been a pillar of support for our students and their families in the communities of Shirati and Nyamagongo. Contact us to learn Dr. C's schedule during his visit. | | |
