Welcome president Carolina, so long president Yari!

We are very excited to announce that Carolina Amador, former VP, has been appointed as our new president. BCLA’s 2nd president Yari Fontebasso and long-standing BCLA team member, has recently stepped down from his role. Yari has been involved in BCLA from its inception, and we want to take this opportunity to thank him for his substantial contributions to the growth of the organization.

Now we look forward to Carolina’s leadership! She has shown quality commitment to BCLA since she joined our team in the fall of 2015, so please join us in welcoming Carolina to her new role, and in wishing Yari all the best!

On November 2nd  2017 the first annual meeting for the West Coast mitochondrial research community will take place at the inaugural UCLA Mitochondrial Symposium. A strong focus of the meeting will be providing a platform for student and early career scientists to promote both themselves and their ideas in the highlight session of the afternoon, the junior talk competition. Cash prizes for the best talks will be up for grabs to attract a dynamic and energetic group of junior researchers to showcase their studies in front of a panel of distinguished judges. In addition to the junior talks, a poster session will close the afternoon session, with more prizes available to expand both wallets and résumés.
