What is Kundalini yoga?
There are many styles of yoga. You may have attended different types of classes such as Power yoga, Hatha yoga, Vinyasa yoga, Hot yoga, and ParaYoga. However, "all yoga should be kundalini yoga." -K.M
Kundalini yoga is a style developed by Yogi Bhajan based on ancient teachings. This style involves many seated poses as well as dynamic movements practiced for 1-3 minutes simultaneously with breathing techniques, mantra, hand mudras, and
bhavana (focus). Kundalini yoga works faster than any other yoga as far as
receiving health benefits.
One of the definitions of a yogi is, "one who has energy in their spine." Kundalini yoga focuses on unblocking the suppressive forces at the base of the spine so kundalini shakti, or prana shakti, can move up shushumna nadi. When this happens the yoga practitioner will identify more with his/her centered Self and is able to actualize their highest potential.
