PLAN RAND Landscaping Update
A few weeks ago we updated you on the work that had been undertaken as part of the Plan Rand project. Plan Rand was developed as a strategic vision for community members to refer to when applying for government grants, and also provides an outline of placemaking strategies for the future.
A key component of this included a Landscaping Masterplan, with the intent to connect elements of the Rand township through a park - for both locals and future visitors - to be located on the old railway land.
Progress is well underway on this, with a draft Masterplan having been presented by Outsider Projects to the Rand Town Improvement Committee last week. The plans will soon be displayed at the Rand Hotel, and an electronic version will also be distributed to the local community for their input and feedback. Final plans will then be completed and submitted to council for approval.
An application for use of the railway land for the park has also been submitted and all involved are eagerly awaiting approval so earthworks can begin. Special acknowledgement must go to Angus MacNeil who conducted this application which included significant amount of hours, meetings and phone calls.
We look forward to bringing you additional progress updates on the landscaping, as well as other elements from Plan Rand in the months to come.
