De La Mesa Farms Newsletter

Get the Scoop on the Farm, CSAs, Markets & More

if you haven't heard the good news, we've been selected as the 2018 Mahi'ai Scale-Up Winners! As winners, we will receive a 5-year agricultural license from Kamehameha Schools for a 1-acre parcel in Hawaii Kai, as well as $10,000 in grant funds from the Ulupono Initiative. This is a proud moment for us and validates the vision and hard work both Bryan and Natalie have put into the business. We can't wait to expand production of our microgreens, local produce, and value-added farm products.

2019 is going to be another great year!

We recognize that we wouldn't be here today without the following folks who we wanted to extend a special thank you to:

To Dave Cobb, thank you letting us test our crazy farming idea on you over three years ago by experimenting with growing peppers in your backyard in Waianae!

To Pamela Boyer and the AlohaFarmLovers team, thank you for taking a chance on us over two years ago and allowing us to share our love of microgreens and local produce at the Kakaako and Kailua Farmers Markets!

To Janel Yamamoto, Jay Bost, Nora Rodli and Pomai Weigert, thank you for nurturing the next generation of farmers on Oahu with GoFarm Hawaii. Without your dedication to strengthening our local food system, and your knowledge and support, there is no way we would be here.

To the GoFarmers that have come before us, thank you for being an inspiration.

To Kamehameha Schools and Ulupono Initiative, thank you for stepping up and supporting farmers with concrete incentives and benefits.

To our CSA subscribers, thank you for supporting and shopping local. Without your support of local farms we will never be able to decrease on dependence on imported produce.

To the chefs and restaurants we work with, thank you for walking the walk and showcasing local produce on your menus! We are grateful for your commitment to supporting local.

To Forage Hawaii, Daylight Mind Coffee, Omao Juice, Lovan Farms, and all our fellow farmer's market vendors, thank you for your encouragement, shared insight and friendships!

To Sarah Burchard of Healthy Locavore, thank you sharing what we do with your tour groups and shining a spotlight on local farmers!

To Rob Reilly, thank you for your genius design skills and working with us to get the branding for De La Farms just right!

To our families and friends, thank you for understanding all the times we couldn't make events, birthdays, and holiday celebrations because we were on the farm or at the market. Your unconditional support is touching!

Farmers Markets Update

This is our final weekend at farmers markets before taking a long-overdue and much deserved vacation. We're headed to California and Oaxaca, Mexico for 2 weeks to reset and feed our bellies and souls. Can't wait to see you all again in December.

In the meantime, we wanted to remind you that the Kakaako Farmers Market is moving to 1050 Ala Moana Blvd. starting next weekend. Check out the new location and keep supporting local!
