Dear Community Members,
Access would like to declare an official statement in solidarity with our black community. We condemn any and all racist and oppressive actions, including police brutality. During this moment, we acknowledge that many of our beloved black community members are hurting and we want to make sure your grief, frustration, and voices are heard. Please remember that you are cared for, that you are powerful, and that you are worthy. There are several resources available at this time ranging from free storytelling narratives of literature, movies, to mental health therapy and emergency services. If you have a question regarding a specific resource, please feel free to contact us.
In addition, we would also like to address ways that non black people can be better allies to our community. As allies, it is our responsibility to support black voices as well as educate ourselves and others on the deep history that has shaped the systems of today. There are petitions to sign, resources to share, donations to be contributed, the list goes on.
Access has dedicated 52 years to addressing & dismantling systematic inequality, oppressive systems and institutions that negatively impact our resilient community. We will continue to advocate for the marginalized and ensure that all of us have equal access to employment, education, support, safety and a thriving future. We invite everyone to also commit to these values.
We are here for you.
Black Lives Matter today, tomorrow, always.
Sincerely and in solidarity,
Access Staff
