Beautiful and Broken Pieces in The Hive Gallery

Mel Harwood and Jo Cresswell like making things. Jo creates stunning mosaics from broken pieces - from fish to chairs to guitars. Her mosaic art reflects her search for harmony between the requirement for boundaries and order and the release into anarchy and the flow of spirit. Mel takes photos, finding beauty in the broken, old and decaying, while seeking cracks in the traditionally beautiful. Re-housing each image in found and foraged, second-hand frames, Mel creates unlikely matches and surprising scenes. Rhett Harwood-Smith, is also showing his 'top-six' animal pics from his recent travels.

So good it was scary!

Well that was a spooky good time! Thanks to everyone who turned up and dressed up for our all-ages Happy Halloween at the Hive event – it was amazing! Everything from the music (thanks to Michael Simic, Jerikye Williams, Pete Lyrebird and The King Hits) to the food and drink and above all the astounding costumes and great spirit(s) among everyone.

Thanks also to the Queanbeyan Age for coming along and covering it all – you can see their photos here: https://www.queanbeyanagechronicle.com.au/story/6472231/hive-bee-ing-spooky/

Do you want to see more musical events at The Hive? Why not join the Bee Team and help us organise them through next year? We need a swarm of volunteers to each do their little bit top help it happen - people to be on the gate, people to deliver flyers, people to play music, run the bar-bee-cue and more. Get in touch and tell us what you’re good at and how much you’d like to do. You’re assured free entry to the events and once we get momentum there will bee other benefits.

Meditation sessions are still in motion

This group will be run fortnightly with the dates below. We’ll start with a 30 minute meditation followed by a shared pot of tea. It doesn’t matter if you are already a meditator or not. Jo will offer a simple meditation practice that you can follow or you can do your own practice. Please bring a cushion to sit on or use our chairs.

A donation of $10 each toward the Hive and a cuppa would be appreciated.
