Playing In the Dirt

April 2023

A Season of Joy and Hope

This picture is of Lunaria (also called Honesty, Siliver Dollar, or Money Plant). It's one that I purposely added to the many flowers I grow because I remember my Nana growing it. If you aren't familiar with it, these purple blooms will transform into translucent seed pods that resemble coins. These do not bloom for at least a year after they are started from seed. A year! Enter a year of Waiting. Anticipating. Hope. A few days ago I turned around and realized they were finally blooming. Enter Joy. I rattled off to everyone, even the toddler, "The purple flower is blooming! Did you see it?" as I drug them off to look at it. It's so hard for me not to cut the blooms now (this is a cut flower operation ha) so that I can watch it transform into it's next beautiful stage. (Side note: do you realize how hard it is to get a great picture of purple blooms against an orange backdrop?!)

I hope you have a beautiful spring, a Happy Easter

and are surrounded by sunshine, flowers, chocolate, family, laughter, Joy & Hope. ~B
