UPCOMING EVENTS

This year's scheduled events have officially concluded as the next few weeks will be time with family and watching my Georgia Bulldogs beat Ohio State in the College Football Playoffs.

Next year starts with a full January plate, and if you did not have an opportunity to participate in any 2022 events, don't let another year pass.

Many events are in-person, such as the Life Alignment Workshop (7th and 14th in Virginia Beach), Emerging Leaders Conference (21st in Suffolk, VA) and CFMY sponsored Parenting Discussion (28th in Virginia Beach). But virtual/webinars are also available, including the continuation of the Enabling Excellence Series on January 25th ... Leadership in the Home - What it Means and Why it Matters (postponed from December).

And you can always schedule a 1-on-1 to find out how to enroll in a Raising Confident Daughters Course.

RECENT EVENTS

These last few weeks have been amazing on both a personal and professional level. As I balance my time and energy, I have been been able to foster more depth in relationships and impact others.

On a personal level, this past Thanksgiving afforded me a wonderful motorcycle ride from Virginia Beach, VA to Nashville, TN where I enjoyed great food and quality family time. One of the highlights was time with my nephews and son (in-law). The fellowship with each of these young men who I have seen grow and mature over the years and taking advantage of the opportunity to pour into them to prayerfully enable them to be great and continue to represent the family was awesome!

Additionally, I find myself immersed in the shaping of young men and women in Norfolk, VA. As a participant in the "Meal and Message" program at Booker T. Washington High School we are able to help the scholars with character development as they navigate their high school years and prepare for young adulthood. These weekly sessions with football players, basketball players and cheerleaders has been a blessing and excite me for what the next generation is postured to offer in the coming years.

LIFE ALIGNMENT

The definition of alignment is to arrange in correct or appropriate relative positions. In more simple terms, it is arrangement in a straight line, but we know life is too complex to oversimplify in that way.

So, taking the former, if we were to start a conversation about whether your "life is aligned," or if the various aspects of your life are appropriately ordered ... where would you begin? I would offer that it is natural to begin with expectations. Because much of our life is predicated on expectations. Mindful that this premise can be argued, but typically during pre-birth and subsequently actual birth, an expectation regarding your existence is posited. Are you going to be healthy ("5 fingers and 5 toes"), are there any pre-existing conditions that will cause you to be disabled in some form (mentally, emotionally, physically), was the pregnancy planned ... in the most basic sense, we ask the question to pregnant mothers "when are you expecting" and "what are you expecting."

And once born, expectations about you eventually shifts to expectations about yourself.
