Breakfast and Lunch

Pause Colombo have launched a "Rise and Shine" breakfast combo offer, with a choice of avocado toast, egg & mushroom or a plain omelette with a choice of coffees or hot chocolate, for Rs2,100.

The Ceylon Curry Club have relaunched their Lunch Temptations, a choice of eight curries, with several add-ons and desserts also available. These are available for delivery between 10.00am and 3.30pm.

There's a selection of classic lunch dishes available for delivery by Columpur. They have kottus from Rs480, noodles from Rs550, biriyanis from Rs550 and nasi goreng from Rs750. They also have biriyani sawans for 6 or 7 people and combo deals for parties of 8.

Smoking Grill in Dehiwala has a number of dishes with a buy 2, get 1 free deals this month. This includes quesadillas, burritos, subs, shawarmas and burgers. The offer is valid to the end of December.

High Tea and Dinner:

There's a few festive high teas available this week including at the Movenpick. It has lots of seasonal favourites and is available at the Lobby for one or two people; for two is is available for delivery. It's on offer from 3pm to 6pm.

As well as lunches, the Ceylon Curry Club has also started a selection of kottus for dinner delivery, such as Egg & Cheese for Rs700 and chicken for Rs750.

There's a new Friday evening barbecue dinner on offer, at the Garden Fusion Café in Nawala. They have a full barbecue dinner on from 6.30pm. 

And of course there are lots of dinners on offer for Christmas Day and Christmas Eve; you'll find these listed on our website. As you can imagine, most of the international hotels have lunches and dinners on offer on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Some of the other ones are:  

Happy Hours & Ladies' Night

We've not found any new happy hours this week, or ladies' nights. 

However we have found a few places offering special Christmas cocktails - will that do?

The Curve Bar has a range of cocktails specially concocted to convey a Christmassy vibe.

t-Lounge and Bar has several tea-based and other cocktails with a festive flavour, such as rose, marzipan and mint tea with a dose of Arrack. 

You'll find some festive local cocktails at Ceylon Curry Club too, such as the Wood Apple Martini.

And the Capital Bar and Grill at the Shangi-La also has a menu of festive cocktails, available until 31 December.

Live Music and DJs

For a complete, up to date list of gigs please see the gig guide on our website. Many gigs get announced just 2-3 days before - gigs for Friday or Saturday are often just announced on Wednesday or Thursday so we are updating the guide daily. However the highlights so far are:

On Thursday, there's an evening of live music at Colombar with performances by Daddy, Warehouse Project, Minesh D and Kavindi Kulasena. It starts at 7pm and admission costs Rs2500. 

Also live on Thursday, Luminosity will be at Darley Road, Mintaka will be at the Curve Bar and the Singing Potatoes will be at The Re.pub.lk.

On Friday Luminosity will be at Asylum, Warehouse Project will be at Taphouse R&R, Autumn will be at the Fox Den, Dillon will be at Playtrix and Hania will be at Paradise Road Tintagel.

For DJ music, on Thursday, DJ Ishan is on the decks for a 90s night at the BYOB Society in Thaluwathagoda. Entry is free for ladies, or Rs1,500 for gents. In town, there's an 80s and 90s night at Kava Bar, with four DJs including Resh and Loop, while it's Thursday Hiphop night with Ricardo Deen at Butler's Pub on Park Street, from 9pm.

On Friday, DJs Mercue and Dirty Dzn will be on the decks at Ask for Fern, while DJs Trev and Lunatics will be at Love Bar. At Lavix, it's Razzle Dazzle Friday with Kyze and Neco on the decks. 

On Saturday the main event is the Cloud 9 "International Music Festival" at Marina Bay, Port City with live music from Infiniti, Binu Sax and 5 DJs including Sri Lanka's DJ Ace, The Music Director, Demo and Sheran and Russia's DJ Alissa Rise.

On Sunday you can enjoy both DJ Mercue and live music from Miracle at the Sunday Soul Session at Ask for Fern, from 6pm, complete with Happy Hours until 9pm and deals on beer and sangria. At Level 4, there's Afro Beats with DJ Neco.

Other Events

You may have noticed, it's Christmas on Saturday so there's lots and lots of special lunches and dinners this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at all of the international hotels and many smaller restaurants too. 

There's too many to list here though you'll find a selection in our home page event diary. So we're going to list here some of the dinners at smaller venues, or some of the slightly less typical ones.

Friday 24 December (Christmas Eve)

If you aren't ready for turkey or ham yet then Grand Slam by Mitsi have a selection of pizza or pizza and beer deals on offer on Friday, such as a regular pizza and beer pitcher for Rs2,100.

At Darley Road, there is a barbecue dinner on offer, with beer and drinks deals, live music from Legato and DJ Cool on the decks. The BBQ starts at 5.00pm and the music at 7.00pm.

Level4 is offering a "Very Tipsy Christmas" with a 3-course dinner, complimentary wine and music from Daria & Malithra and from DJ Neco, from 6.30pm .

The Garden Fusion Café in Nawala, which opened not so long ago, is offering a 5- course dinner on Christmas Eve, from 6.00pm until 10.00pm.

Christmas Day

For a Japanese style Christmas dinner, Kobe at Water's Edge have a full dinner available on 24th or 25th December, from 7.30pm to 10.30pm, priced at Rs8,500 per person.

Nomnom Thai is offering a Thai Party from 11am until midnight with free corkage and a DJ and of course tasty Thai food.

Thali's has an Indian vegetarian  lunch buffet, priced at Rs1,500 per person but free for kids under 8 years old.

Nuga Rosmead is hosting both a buffet lunch from 11.30am to 3.00pm and dinner, from 7.00pm to 11.00pm. These are priced at Rs7,500 per person.
