Welcome to this week's update on Colombo's meal deals, food delivery and events. Well, the lifting of lockdown was not quite as many had expected; we can go out, but dine-in and entertainment are still restricted, so no live music, happy hours or dine-in specials, until the 15th, so just another week to go..... In the meantime there are some nice new delivery offers to enjoy, and some places are doing take away too so you can pick up a meal and take it somewhere to enjoy. Unfortunately it seems that most of the music livestreams ended last week as people expected to be playing live this week, so there is little happening on that front. However, one or two streams have now been planned and if we hear of any more we'll post them on the website. Keep Safe and Stay Well . If you like this, please sign up below and forward it to your friends to subscribe. |

Live Music and DJs Sadly it seems that our excitement at the return of live music was premature; we have to wait another week. But it seems to have taken not just us by surprise as there are very few music livestreams planned this week: band, musician or DJ. The fantastic Minesh D hosted his regular Wednesday live stream this evening, as he has virtually every week during lockdown, and the wonderful OiC are planning to hold their regular Friday evening livestream around 8pm, but those are the only two that we have found so far this week. There is also a DJ livestream: on Saturday night, Kurumbar presents Bar Code, an evening of old school and RnB DJ music from DJs J Stefan and Nimz, starting at 6pm. Keep an eye on the gig diary, we'll add music events as soon as we hear of them.

Other Events As usual, we've been looking for online events that might be of interest from here and around the world. For small businesses, a webinar on "Building Your Business With Social Media" might be helpful; that's on Friday at 8.30pm. Do you know those awkward moments when a conversation just fades away, whether at work or socially? A webinar on Connectworking, "Conversation CPR" will discuss how to reengage the conversation when this happens. For the job seekers, we found a couple of sessions to help with the job hunt. The first step is to get a good CV or Resume, and you can join a "Resume Writing Workshop" on Sunday at 1230pm. The next step is the interview, and there is a session on "Preparing for the Interview" on Saturday at 7.15pm. By the way, if you're looking for a role in the hospitality industry, check our Instagram Story as we share any posts that we find advertising roles in restaurants, hotels etc. It's important of course to take care of your wellbeing, especially in these times, and on Thursday there is a workshop from the UK on "5 Ways to Wellbeing". This is at 5.30pm. From caring for ourselves to caring for our planet and this week's WNPS lecture is on the subject of Nature Protectors, specifically on how to reduce single-use plastics. This is on Friday at 10.30am. Laughter is often said to be good for our wellbeing, so you might like to join "How to Get Laughs from Life", a workshop learning how to write and present stand up comedy. This is on Saturday and again on Sunday at 8.30pm. Finally, if you've heard people talking about Cold Brew coffee and have ever wondered what it's about, there's a talk on "How to Make Cold Brew Coffee" on Friday at 6.40pm. Events are being added to our diary almost daily, especially now as restrictions are easing, so keep checking back and see what's new.

Looking Ahead One more week before we can eat out, dine-in or go for a drink with friends; it may be a little longer before we can enjoy happy hours, live bands and DJs. While you're waiting, do order a meal from time to time as it supports our restaurants and hospitality industry as they try to recover. #EveryMealHelps ! We will keep bringing you ideas for dining out and delivered, live and livestream events and other things that we find that might be of interest. And of course if you know of something interesting, please send it to us so that we can share with others like you who might enjoy it. test Visit HappeningColombo regularly to find out what is happening.
