Hey there,
I have been creating content for quite a while now. I've explored the world of blogging, video-making, photography and graphics. I've also spent the last 5 years in an architecture school, familiarising myself with the world of graphics, visuals and experiences.
However, none of them have clicked with me as much as writing has. The act of putting my thoughts into well-structured sentences, stringing them together so that they make sense and evoke certain emotions in the readers' minds, that's what floats my boat.
Blogging is how I initially brought Save Ourselves to the world, and it still is a very important part of my content creation process. I start my ideas on a Notion doc, outline my scripts, elaborate my points through the blogpost and then think about condensing them into a 5 min video format and into Instagrammable photos or infographics. It all starts with words for me. I love penning down my thoughts and apart from my blog, I wanted a medium to express more freely - without being bothered by SEO and keywords and making searchable content. That is how this newsletter came into the picture.
Since this is the first issue of this revamped newsletter, let me introduce it to you:
As the name suggests, the Save Ourselves Supplement is a supplement to all the main content I make for my blog. The weekly videos, blogs and Instagram posts that reach you undergo a week's worth of ideation, scripting, filming, drafting, editing and other forms of content production. The only form of informality I can find to connect with the Save Ourselves community is through Instagram stories. However, contrary to popular opinion, I find a 1000 words preferable to a single picture. There's a certain sense of calm that I find in writing, in long-form, unedited content.
This revamped version of the Save Ourselves Newsletter is my way of bridging the gap that currently lays between you and me. This is my way of communicating some of the thoughts, intents, processes, emotions and efforts that go behind all the content creation you see on all the Save Ourselves platforms.
Now that the two of you have been introduced, I hope that you find this newsletter as a welcome notification in your inbox every other Saturday afternoon! My intent with this newsletter is to write to you as I would to a friend, briefing you on recent matters, letting you know of my thoughts and asking for yours in return. Feel free to reply to these emails with your reactions, thoughts and feedback on anything related to Save Ourselves. I hope that we find this to be a good medium for connection in this world of short attention spans!
Looking forward to connecting with you through these fortnightly newsletters - more of letters than news - but still. Have a great weekend!
