Work from home forever? (WFHF) |

Office fears, problems with working remotely, and Hilaria Baldwin again. I've gotten pretty comfortable working from home. But, it seems like there is an end in sight to COVID taking over our lives, which means many of us will soon be called back to the office. I want normalcy again, but I'm kind of scared, too! But don't worry, I have a doodle below with 8 excuses to avoid returning to the office. You're welcome. This week my boss and I went back to the office to meet with our intern who we've been talking to on video chat for the past six months, but have never met in person! I was anxious about it (see this December doodle about forgetting everything last time I went in), but it was actually really nice to have a somewhat normal day and connect in real life. So, below see a cute doodle about a day in the life (online) with my team! I also wrote a column with a few work doodles called "Work Disrupted," below. And, for some entertainment, Hilaria Baldwin is back! In two languages! Note on the art: You'll notice this newsletter is a mix digital drawings and hand-drawn drawings. I'm still exploring my style and methods and I think there's a place for both. It helps with some efficiencies (like reducing copy for video, translation, and reusing images) which I need as I work on bigger projects like... Passover: Email me for more info about the Haggadah I'm creating and virtual seder I'm producing. Ah! |

Excuses not to go back to the office |

I can probably name at least two people who relate to each one of these scenarios, including myself. Which relates to you? (I made this in Procreate and re-used a dog from a custom Valentine's Day card I made. It might look familiar!) |

I doodled a day in the life with my awesome team at Insider! We have daily catch-ups at 10 AM, and this represents each of our personalities. True to the doodle, while I was doing that, my dad, uncle, and sister were behind me. I also included the recording of their reactions, which was so sweet and rewarding. I'm lucky to work with such great people. |

I wrote my second biweekly column for Disruptive Technologists combining three comics about the realities of working, networking, and learning from home. Here's a preview, read the whole blog post here. It’s hard to feel professional when I haven’t stepped into an office in months. Like many people across the world, I’ve been working from home for nearly a year. I can do my editing job for Insider successfully from the kitchen/living room area in my small Brooklyn apartment. From the same spot (ok, sometimes my bed or the couch), I have also joined networking events, coffee catch-ups, language classes, and more. While work, and most other things, have continued seamlessly online, it hasn’t gone without … glitches. Here are three cartoons I’ve made over the past several months based on my new virtual professional world, including awkward situations and work-from-home personalities. Hilaria Baldwin has slowly been making a comeback online after a major scandal earlier this year. She led everyone to believe she was born in Spain when she wasn't. It's still unclear what the truth is, and she's maintaining that act. (See my previous Hilaria coverage here and here). One of the videos got 18,000 views on YouTube, GRACIAS Hilaria. After disappearing, she re-emerged focusing on the kids. In her most recent act, she pulled a magic baby seemingly out of thin air. She showed her family added a baby girl, but she couldn't have given birth to her since she gave birth to Eduardo in September. It was a surrogate baby, but people were confused! See the latest doodle and video below with helpful screenshots and the soothing sound of my voice, jk, I know it is not soothing hahaha. You're welcome for me not doing a version speaking Spanish. But, I do have a version in Spanish. Another Procreate perk! |

The Internet can actually be a really nice place. I'm sometimes overwhelmed by the nice feedback I get. And some is not nice but I love to see the engagement!! Putting my content on all these platforms is work, but it's worth it when it helps me reach new audiences and it resonates with them. Here are some favorites from across the web: Reddit (they eat up my Hilaria content) - Perfect summary through your AWESOME artwork
- Brilliant work!
- This is so good. The last pic is so accurate.
- I love the "Mira" at the beginning!
YouTube Hilaria video: Youtube Ted Cruz video: - My hero. I like the artwork. I needed this.

Danielle in Doodles update |
|
|
This week was exciting! I wrote an entire modern Haggadah in just a few days. Thanks to my neighbors for lending me a couple to reference. My new artist friend, Alice, in France agreed to collaborate and is working on her illustrations. I'm working on mine. I'm building a platform on my site to sell this and planning a virtual second-night seder, too! I'm kind of overwhelmed with this project, but SOOOO excited. Look out for promotion soon. My crazy dream for DID is for it to become a media company with books, events, shows, cartoons in different verticals drawn by other artists, etc. So.. this is one small step. My friend Kara helped me write my first pitch to a journalist. In the email we called me founder of Danielle in Doodles and I had to pinch myself. A lot of the goals I've written in my life and for DID are coming to fruition and it's very exciting. I've always wanted to be an entrepreneur and it feels like I'm on my way! |
