The Little Engine That Could! |
This month, the BCGOP is the Little Engine That Could. You remember the children’s story about the small train engine that didn’t have all the bells and whistles of the modern steam or electric trains to get up the big hill, but it had the desire. It told itself over and over as it climbed the big hill, “I think I can; I think I can; I think I can…” And it did! |
This month, the little BCGOP engine peaked three steep hills without bells and whistles, but plenty of DESIRE and I THINK I CAN grit. |
Hill 1: A March 2nd County Convention was pulled together with an almost all-rookie roster of volunteers and without hitches. And, we passed four resolutions and adjourned ahead of schedule! |
Hill 2: With slim troops stretched out as poll judges, precinct chairs, and greeters, our Election Team volunteers got the word out enough to get CJ Domingo through the Primaries and onto the General Election for City Council! (None of the four Republican candidates in 2022 made it through the Primary). Congratulations, CJ, and to the poll greeters, precinct chairs, and supporters! |
Hill 3: With 2,800 verified signatures to collect in two months to get conservative, unaffiliated candidate Bruce O’Connell qualified for the November elections, the Board of Elections confirmed that the necessary signatures were obtained! Buncombe County District 2 will now have a conservative option for their County Commissioner. (That is Pisgah, Candler, Leicester, Weaverville, Bernardsville, Swannanoa… - District 2). |
With desire, dedication, and discipline, we can climb our hills – we can win! We can get Conservatives elected!! |

In Memoriam: Remembering Dawn Benjamin |
It is with heavy hearts we share the news of the passing of Dawn Benjamin, beloved wife of Rev. Paul Benjamin, our candidate for County Commissioner in District 1. The morning of March 27 marked her untimely departure after a long fight with cancer. Paul has shared a message with us below: |
"For 12 years, God Blessed me with a Beautiful Rose. Who can find a virtuous woman? (Proverbs 31:10) I did in my wife, Dawn. The brightness and legacy of her Life have impacted many single moms, women, and youth." |
"Instead of flowers, Dawn would prefer if you made a legacy donation to what mattered most to her." |
"Celebration of Life services will be held held in Asheville, April 13th at: 2:00PM at Revol Church. New York, April 20th, 2:00PM at: New Testament Church in Massena and Sanford,Florida. News from Congressman Chuck Edwards' Office |
Chuck's on a roll! Take note of accomplishments touted by Congressman Edwards' office in his March 15 newsletter: |
TikTok Takedown, but Smartly: Voted for a bill to cut the puppet strings China has on Americans via TikTok—without outright banning the app. It's about keeping the fun but ditching the spies. Land, Sweet Land: Co-sponsoring the Protect America’s Lands Act because letting foreign investors and eco-zealots buy up America’s backyard is a no-go. It's our land, not a global marketplace. Healing Historical Wounds: Supporting the Truth and Healing Commission on Indian Boarding School Policies Act to address the dark legacy of Indian boarding schools. It's about time for some closure and healing. Calling Out the President: Edwards critiqued the president's State of the Union address, flagging issues like border security and national policies, emphasizing the need for stronger leadership. Sanctuary Cities Showdown: Introduced a bill targeting sanctuary cities that compromise public safety, demanding justice for victims of crimes committed by illegal immigrants. Budget Battle: Criticized the president’s budget proposal for its tax hikes and spending spree, proposing a no-new-taxes, balanced budget approach to ensure fiscal responsibility and economic growth. Youth Recognition: Awarded Asheville High’s Sophie Van Arnam with the Congressional Award for her impressive service and community engagement. Future leaders in action!
In essence, Chuck Edwards is fighting on all fronts—wasteful spending, foreign influence, land protection, historical injustices, public safety, fiscal responsibility, and youth engagement. It's about safeguarding American values and ensuring a prosperous future. Keep it up, Chuck! |
