We're In Season 3 of Rally! |
Rally! Season 3 is about people and partners. Each month we will release a “FACES of PCA” video by the incomparable Dirk Smith, and we will highlight one of PCA’s Official Partner orgs. Interested in joining or partnering with PCA? Email info@pridecheerleading.org! |

Behind the scenes, PCA has been busy with Annual Director Elections and planning for Gay Games Guadalajara (Nov 1-12, 2023). But in our communities, our Member Teams continued their events, recruitment, and beneficiary donations. One event to highlight was OURFest in Philadelphia, the first festival and parade in the United States envisioned to commemorate National Coming Out Day! Check out this video (submitted by Tori D.) of CHEER Philadelphia and Cheer DC performing at the inaugural OURFest Parade on Oct 7, 2023. #PCAPrideTour #PCATryoutTour #PCATeamsGiveBack |

FACES of PCA (by Dirk Smith) |
“Faces of PCA” presents the people behind the pompoms. Each video interviews a different volunCHEERleader who has come to embody the mission and values of PCA and #CharitableCheerleading. All videos are filmed, edited, and produced by the incomparable David "Dirk" Smith. Dirk has provided a platform for our cheerleaders to express how PCA has contributed to their identity, their journey, their sense of belonging, and their mental and physical fitness. Watch these personal stories and you will appreciate the tangible benefits of exercise, sport, philanthropy, and community that we’ve experienced through adult cheerleading. October’s FACES of PCA video: Anthony of CHEER Seattle Anthony is a Co-Founder of CHEER Seattle and a Board Director with the Federation of Gay Games. His membership with both orgs has shaped his identity in positive ways, allowing him to “feel free to be me!” Although he has a long history with charitable cheerleading, nothing is slowing him down! Watch him light up as he talks about basket tosses and both host locations of Gay Games XI, Hong Kong and Guadalajara! |

Featured Partner: Compete Sports Diversity Council |
As of summer 2023, PCA became an official Partner of the Compete Sports Diversity Leadership Council, LLC (CSDC). PCA has been working with Compete since our nascence, but the partnership formalized this past summer and we are hitting the ground running. PCA’s Brand Ambassadors Sal Tovar and Beau Bradley, SDLT, have attended site visits and conferences to spread the word about PCA to new cities, conventions and visitors bureaus, travel corporations, expo centers, and athletic venues. Sal was #inthebuff, Buffalo-Niagara that is, in September with a “mini-fam” of likeminded champions of #SportsDiversity. It was eye-opening to learn what the Buffalo Niagara Sports Commission and the city of Buffalo, NY have to offer to the LGBTQ+ athletic community. Will you join PCA #inthebuff soon? Beau attended the TEaMS Conference + Expo in Palm Beach, Florida in October. The world's largest sports event industry conference and exhibition, TEAMS (Travel, Events, and Management in Sports) attracts over 1,000 attendees, including CEOs, Executive Directors and Event Managers from sports organizations, as well as Representatives from Sports Commissions and Convention Bureaus, Corporate Sponsors, Event Suppliers, and other opinion leaders in the industry. In one weekend, Beau captured face time with important contacts in all of our current PCA cities and exponentially increased PCA’s potential for new team development. The flurry of e-intro emails is just the beginning. If you get an e-intro from Beau, respond immediately! This could be your next big charitable cheerleading break! |

Gay Games Guadalajara is less than two weeks away - and our competitors are already BRINGIN' IT! Cheerleading competitors started things off with a 10 day online fundraising campaign October 1-10. We had a goal of raising $5,000 together, and we absolutely SMASHED that goal! The final total raised was $18,341 which will go toward PCA’s donations to two beneficiaries: Mesón A.C., and the Federation of Gay Games’ Scholarship Program. PCA volunCHEERleaders don’t just compete in our sport. We cheer to support LGBTQ+ athletics, to support the LGBTQ+ community, and to further LGBTQ+ causes worldwide. On Monday November 6, we will board a private double-decker tour bus (thank you Taptatío Tour) and travel sport-to-sport to cheer and fundraise! Our spunky, spirited, seemingly spontaneous sideline spectacle will stop at: CODE Metropolitano: 🏊Swimming Polideportivo Revolución: ⚽️ Soccer 7 🏐 Beach Volleyball CODE Alcalde Section II: 🏀 Basketball Fan Fest
Watch this fun vid from our Sin City 2020 bus tour to get a taste of what this looks like: How can YOU join the spirit? 1. Bring cash (dollars, pesos, any currency) to donate in our Spirit Buckets if you’re joining us in Guadalajara. You’ll see us all over the Games, from Opening Ceremonies to Closing Ceremonies. Or you can always contribute electronically, from anywhere! All unrestricted electronic donations PCA receives during the period of Nov 1-12, 2023 will go into our Gay Games Spirit Buckets, from which we’ll donate to the selected event beneficiaries!
2. Watch PCA's Charitable Cheerleading Competition on FACEBOOK LIVE if WiFi cooperates, or IN PERSON at Polideportivo Revolución. Event Date: November 8, 2023. Time: 10am to 3pm Guadalajara time. The general run-of-show is posted on PCA’s website! |
