An Interview with Teacher Connie King, an Early Childhood Educator and Family Childcare Provider Her Lived Experience and Wisdom Taught Her How to Find Joy and Peace in the Middle of the Emotional Storms of Life! Did you know in the eye of the storm it is calm? Teacher Connie King shares her wisdom of how she finds inner peace even in the middle of chaos and disorder of everyday life. She’s found that if she waits for happiness only when things are calm then it would be very hard to find it. She shares how she has learned to "tune inward to notice her inner state" and how she takes part in simple intentional daily activities that help her restore and find tranquility. She does this because she says "I innately deserve joy, happiness and peace." Also Connie states, "children pick up on our inner energy and when we are internally stressed, they absorb it and they can become increasingly dysregulated as a result of our stress levels." I first met Ms. Connie when conducting a training where she stood out clearly in the sea of voices. She spoke in such a way, that my heart and soul were moved. I had to meet her. I had to learn from her. I had to listen! I hope you will take the time to do the same and absorb the joy that emotes from her pores! Listen in to this 30-minute life changing interview right here, right now! | | |

An Interview with 3 of the Authors of Supporting Gender Diversity in Early Childhood Classrooms Description: What an honor to listen, learn and interview 3 of the 8 co-authors of the book, Supporting Gender Diversity in Early Childhood Classrooms: A Practical Guide. Encian Pastel, Julie Nicholson and Nathanael Flynn are interviewed by Julie Kurtz at the Center for Optimal Brain Integration where they discuss why they created this important book and the concrete steps educators can take to support gender inclusion and diversity in their classrooms. Together we will learn from the authors practical steps for adults who work with young children to build inclusive and intentional spaces where all children receive positive messages about their unique gender selves. This interview and their book increase our awareness about gender diversity in learning environments such as childcare centers, family childcare homes and preschools. By including the voices and lived experiences of gender-expansive children, transgender adults, early childhood educators and parents and family members of trans and gender-expansive children, it contextualizes what it means to rethink early learning programs with a commitment to gender justice and gender equality for all children. Click the image above to go to amazon to purchase a copy of their book.
