 Happy Summer from Aspen Grove!

We are so pleased to be able to announce our new and improved floorplans. The design team has been carefully reviewing and upgrading the fourplex plans over the past number of weeks. The foundation redesign has given us more interior living space to play with and allowed for a fresh configuration of rooms, a chance to enhance storage facilities and improve functional use of space. At the same time, this change has improved our energy efficiency. We hope you’ll be as pleased with them as we are.

With the foundation redesign, both the Lynx and Blackbear suites have over 200 ft² extra living space. The suites now have over 1800 ft² on the interior and host two bedrooms with an office on the lower floor. In addition, each floor has a full bathroom and a generous storage room accessible from the mud room to keep your gear organised or if not, to hide it away!

The Granite and Paradise suites have also had positive design modifications. Both suites now have restructured entrance ways, providing access through their individual ground storage spaces. With this change, Paradise now has a private, internal stairwell accessible from the parking area. To further improve storage in these units, a walk in closet from the master bedroom has been included in both Granite and Paradise. The bathrooms have been moved around to better accommodate for guests and we now have the option to have a fully accessible bathroom in the Granite suite. Slight changes to the mud and laundry rooms of these units have improved the functional space of the mud and laundry rooms - let us keep you organised!

We know how important energy efficiency goals are to this project, not only for our environmental vision but also to potential buyers. In order to achieve Step 4 Compliance, we must achieve up to 15 kWh/m² for heating and cooling as calculated by an energy specialist. Currently the calculation for the fourplex stands at 17.3 kWh/m² - we are so close to Step 4! Aspen Grove has engaged with a new energy advisor to help us achieve that 2.3 kWh/m² less of energy consumption. We have every hope we can meet this goal so that we minimise your costs of ownership to your pocket book and to the environment.

Aspen Grove is fortunate to have spent this time coming up with the best possible design with our architect and contractor team.

We feel each suite will accommodate all types of buyers from professional couples and retirees to first-time homeowners and families. We understand people have different budgets. That's why Aspen Grove is offering different levels of interior finishing packages so buyers can have some wiggle room with their budget. Upgrade or downgrade as you please!

Canadian researchers argue COVID-19 can be spread by building ventilation. Since we featured HRVs in our previous newsletter, we wanted to clarify a design detail addressing this issue in our current pandemic situation. Each suite will have its own individual airshed allowing each household to intake that fresh mountain air separate from their neighbouring suite.

We thought this collaborative research at the University of Alberta between mechanical engineers and the university's faculty of medicine was interesting. Follow the link below to read more.

Back in early April, we some fun capturing views at Aspen Grove using a drone. Here's a taste of what the view should look like from the Paradise Suite of the Douglas Fir Building:
