Student Government Elections The Student Government (SG) elections were held after a campaign period which lasted for four weeks. The Ashoka University Election Commission (AUEC) conducted several events and debates to provide platforms for campaigning and discussion. With an overall turnout of 83.7%, the undergraduate student body cast their votes to elect 15 individuals to represent them and form the sixth House of Representatives (HoR). Priavi Joshi (UG21) was elected President and Gaurav Nandan Tripathi (UG20) was elected the Leader of Opposition by the HoR afterward. Date: February 13 - 14, 2020 |

Can Academic Writing Make us Happy? Anuj Gupta, Assistant Director of the Young India Fellowship (YIF) Critical Writing Programme conducted a workshop at Jadavpur University, Kolkata on 14th February titled "Can Academic Writing Make us Happy?" as part of a YIF Outreach initiative. The Yellow Line Express Tour On February 22, the Office of Student Life organised the Yellow Line Express tour to the Havelis of Old Delhi. The walk was led by Ms. Aradhana Sinha, who has been affiliated with INTACH for over 12 years and has been leading heritage walks for various groups. The tour covered Digambara Jain Lal Mandir, Gauri Shankar Temple, State Bank of India, Sis Ganj Gurudwara, Sunehri Masjid, Kinari Bazaar, Naughara, Digambar Jain Meru Mandir and Jama Masjid. ‘The Yellow Line Express’ is an initiative that aims to provide an opportunity to Ashokans to explore Delhi: its art, music, theatre, cuisines, monuments and much more. The city means different things to different people and the Yellow Line Express seeks to give every explorer one’s own special reasons to explore this city. |

Graduate Information Session on UPenn IMPA Programme On February 26, the Office of Global Education & Strategic Programmes (GESP) organised a Graduate Information Session by Nora E Lewis, Vice Dean, Professional and Liberal Education, School of Arts and Sciences, University of Pennsylvania. She was accompanied by Prof. Priya Rajagopalan who teaches Economics and Public Policy at the university. They presented a new master’s programme at U. Penn - the Penn International Master of Public Administration (Penn I-MPA). Nora E Lewis was Executive Director of the College of Liberal and Professional Studies (LPS) which hosts a semester and summer sessions that a number of students from Ashoka University have attended in the past. The Penn I-MPA is an exciting, innovative, skills-based graduate degree programme dedicated to improve global human well-being by professionally educating, nurturing, and networking present and future problem-solving leaders. Nora guided interested students about the application process and also shared details about the course structure and the relevance of the focus for Indian students. The Penn I-MPA takes only one academic year and ten courses to complete. It is an academically cutting-edge cohort model programme (all I-MPA degree candidates take all I-MPA courses together and participate in numerous extra-curricular learning experiences together) led by a distinctively interdisciplinary, multinational, and multilingual team of world-class scholars and noted leaders in government, business, and the non-profit sector who teach, advise, mentor, and inspire our students. CWC Event | I Love you, Idiot: How to Write a Love Poem: “I love you, idiot” takes after a phrase from the letters exchanged between the Marathi-English poet Arun Kolatkar and his first wife, Darshan Chabdda. It is also the title of Arvind Krishna Mehrotra’s essay where he introduces the letters for the general public for the first time. This workshop aims to introduce participants to love poetry in general and to the particular tradition of love poetry in Indian poetry in English with a focus on contemporary poetry. |

VITA 2020 The Ashoka MUN Symposium, VITA 2020, taking place on March 20 is a one-day conference that brings together experts and leaders from the field of Politics, International Relations and Business to mentor and inspire delegates from schools and universities across the country. 'Vita' is a Hungarian term that means 'to debate' or 'to speak up' and engage in discourse. 'Vita' in Latin means life and the notion of all elements that constitute life.
