Honoring our Veterans

With millions of veterans that have served our

country, sometimes in our annual tribute

it's easy to forget about the individual stories.

The following are a few personal stories I

discovered on the US Department of Defense

website defense.gov and

wanted to share a few with you.

I encourage you to explore the site to learn

more about Our Armed Forces and Veterans.

"Army Capt. Harold Earls, right, commander of the Tomb Guard, presents World War II veteran Jack Eaton, 100, with a signed photo and challenge coin from the Tomb Guard. The presentation capped Eaton’s visit to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va., Oct, 23, 2019. Eaton, a former Army corporal, served as a sentinel at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from 1938-1940."

"Navy veteran Isaiah Staley, left, competes in wheelchair rugby as part of Team Special Operations Command during the 2019 Department of Defense Warrior Games in Tampa, Fla., June 26, 2019. The games are a Paralympic-style sporting event with 300 athletes from all DOD service branches and five international partners."

"Army Pvt. Jennifer Michele arranges donated winter coats outside the National Guard Armory in Cherry Hill, N.J., Sept. 27, 2019, during an event to provide health care, social services, winter clothing and other assistance to homeless veterans."

"The New York Mets honor World War II Navy veteran Lucille Katz Posner with a flag ceremony at Citi Field during Fleet Week in New York, May 26, 2019."
