July 2023 Newsletter

MMBTN Executive Director

Susan Campbell, MD

The celebrations continue at Mothers' Milk Bank of Tennessee. As a new and growing nonprofit organization, it is so exciting to see the advancements being made. There are hundreds of people each day playing a significant role in our ability to deliver lifesaving nutrition.

As we look forward to Breastfeeding Awareness Month in August, we have decided to extend the deadline to become a Founding Member of the Leadership Society. I would like to thank each and every one of you who have already demonstrated your commitment to helping the most fragile babies survive and thrive by becoming a member.

If you have not already become a member of the Leadership Society, I hope you would consider doing so before the new deadline of September 1.

Thank you for your support of our mission!

Happy 1st Anniversary

July 29th marks the first anniversary of the Milk Drop Depot at Shults Pediatrics in Knoxville, TN. We are so grateful for their partnership.

"Mothers with thousands of ounces to donate are very appreciative of being able to drop off their excess frozen milk when they are taking their baby for well-baby care," said Susan Campbell, MD.

A Special Thank You

We would like to thank Sarah Beth Eriksen, MD, IBCLC for presenting on the behalf of Mothers' Milk Bank of Tennessee at the Tennessee Breastfeeding Symposium in June. Her speech was on the importance of access to donor human milk for health equity. Dr. Erksen is a pediatrician and breastfeeding medicine provider in Knoxville, TN.

Dr. Erksen is pictured with our board president, Pat Steimer, RN, IBCLC.
