THE POLL RESULTS:

So, what sound does a panda make?! There were a lot of thoughts and amazing contenders but, one person got it right!

Brian from Vermont was right with his answer, "Since I used to teach a lesson on animal sounds when I worked at the National Zoo, pandas make a high pitched whining sound when they're looking for boyfriends and babies. They also bark like dogs when they're saying get off my lawn."

Honorable Mentions:

  • Izzy (CA) - "Do they make sounds? Is it just the crunch of bamboo?"
  • Howie (NJ) - "Thump (when rolling down a hill)"
  • A lot of people - "Moo"

Let's all thank Brian for educating us today! Also, shout out to all the responses. There we some really fun ones and loved seeing the creativity!

OTHER NEWS:

The last day of April is here!! Wow, this month flew by like no other. Time keeps on ticking but, there is always so much happening. Don't forget to stop and smell the new spring flowers, to see the street art and public art, and to enjoy everything around you. See how people interact with the world around them and it will remind you of the now and might make you smile. There is so much beauty in the ordinary. I have been doing this a lot lately and it always brightens my mood.

200,000,000+ people have received the vaccine in the United States!! WOW! That is remarkable. Also, everyone is now eligible to go and get a vaccine in the U.S. If you live in the states, go and schedule your appointment. You can go to Vaccine Finder to find a vaccination site near you. If you are hesitant please read about some myths associated with the vaccine here. Reach out to me or a friend and they can also help ease worries and/or help you find a vaccination site too!

Thank you for reading this and if this brought a smile to your day, feel free to forward it on and spread the cheer! Don't forget the impact a little kindness can have. It can create lots of change!

'Til next time,

Alex's Book Corner

I am currently reading:

  • The Last Story of Mina Lee by Nancy Jooyan Kim

What I have read these past few weeks:

  • The Overstory by Richard Powers
    • This read was a tough one. I might not be a novel person (idk). I think I took too long to read this but, I heard a lot of people rave about it. If I read it over a shorter period of time, I am sure I would've loved it. (3 Stars)

The Newsletter Poll!

Woof? I guess pandas can bark but, do they have superpowers? Now it is time for a poll brought to you by Todd (New Zealand). What is the best superpower?! I wouldn't have to ask this if I was able to read minds.

One more thing: Want to see your poll question in the newsletter? Submit your ideas here!

A Creative Block

Lately, there has been a lot going on in my life that I feel like my creativity has become stunted. I begin to question, what do I do next? Will my next idea be "good enough"? What if my future ideas won't be as good as my past ones?

What Are Your Top Values?

"Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much." - Helen Keller There is an assessment where someone gives you a list of values and when it is given to you, you are told to pick your top ten.
