Merry Christmas, my friends! I hope you're having a wonderful season celebrating the birth of our Savior in your community and creating special memories with your family. We had our 21st annual Gingerbread gathering yesterday and had so much fun creating silly Dr. Suess characters! I put together a little summary video this year... just for grins & giggles! |

As we wrap up a month focused on verses of PEACE, what has impacted you?

We're entering that "pivot" phase of wrapping up this year well and contemplating our focus for a new year. Got a reading plan selected? Whatever plan you're following, you can color your way through the Bible reading tracker to help you visually track your progress. This strategy works great for kids, too! |

December 2021 | Biblequiltjournal.comTis the season for rejoicing about all the things related to Christ's birth. How does your family count down Advent? New template for Advent: Add to either your original BQJ or your ABC Journal Bible Quilting Sermon Notes: an Advent sample Last year we focused on JOY . |

Glory & Peace | Biblequiltjournal.comI'm capturing a couple of our 31 Days of Peace verses on the blank pages at the back of the Monthly BQJ . At this time of year I like to incorporate some Christmas carols from old hymnals, too. I finally found some earth stickers . |

Christmas Tree, Page in Progress | Biblequiltjournal.comSometimes it takes us a little while to get a page completed. And that's OK! I started this Christmas tree a few weeks ago by ripping a scrapbook paper into a triangular shape, leaving the edges rough. I glued it onto the journal page and added a few stickers. |

Washi tape Christmas tree | Biblequiltjournal.comDid you get a chance to watch the replay of our last Zoom session? Among other Christmas-y things we discussed, I showed how to make a washi tape Christmas tree . I thought I'd show how I finished off the page after the video. |

Looking Ahead to 2022: Bible Quilting Options I've been asked if I use multiple journals at a time (yes) and which journals I use for particular purposes, so I'll throw out a quick summary of my process. Remember, you do you...whatever works with your routine. No pressure here! MONTHLY I use the monthly BQ to focus on a specific theme each month. (And I'm grateful to have several of you along with me on this journey!) I'm always amazed at how this focus "alerts my attenna" to the topic, calling my attention to how that theme is used throughout scripture. Often I have "Godwink" moments about a verse or two, which inspires me to create on the blank pages in the monthly journal. |

2022 Monthly BQJ Reference Lists | Biblequiltjournal.comThis is the complete list of references for our 2022 series, Drawing Near to God in the 2022 Monthly Bible Quilt Journal. These verses have been cultivated by an international team of 12 women who have graciously given their time and effort to provide these unique lists of scriptures for their monthly topic. |

In the beginning... This seems like a great way to kick off a new year! Let's explore God's creativity and how He made us creative beings.
|
|
Usually at the end of a month I'll start thinking of the month ahead. This is when I take my BQ Calendar off the wall and decorate it for the coming month. Sometimes it coincides with the monthly theme; sometimes it's a patchwork of current verses on my mind/prayer list.

WEEKLY One of my goals for 2022 is to complete the back side of my ABC pages. If you've been around a while, you've probably heard my tip of focusing on one letter a week. Starting on Monday, Jan 3rd, we can write a reminder letter on our calendars and get through the whole alphabet twice in the year. I've got page "starter" ideas for each letter of the alphabet on the ABC Boards, or you can see a Flip Through of ABC Journal to help you brainstorm. A is for B is for... C is for... D is for... E is for... |
|
|
Another weekly option is to use the BQ Notes journal for weekly sermon notes or Bible studies you attend each week. I've enjoyed having a separate journal for note-taking and having the reformatted designs to help speed up the process. I use the blank pages to attach the bulletin which has the scripture reading already printed out. Sometimes I've captured song lyrics here, too.

DAILY I add the daily verse for the monthly topic in my Monthly BQJ. I take a picture of this entry and share it in the FB Group in the topic thread for that month so you can follow along with us. For those of you not on Facebook, I post summaries under Monthly BQ. When I read my daily devotional and encounter a verse or passage that impacts me, I'll pull out my Original BQJ and create a page in it. This process is still my favorite because it's based on a spontaneous inspiration from scripture reading or perhaps a podcast I've listened to on my daily walk. Sometimes I'll share these pages on the website BQ Community boards under Sample Pages or under Templates if I use a template for the page. I'd encourage you to become a "site member" so that you can introduce yourself, share your pages and add comments to what others are posting. I LOVE to have others share on the site to provide a broader variety of BQ styles! Here's one from Alice: |

I'm continuing to pray about the BQ schedule for next year. I'd appreciate your prayers and insights, too. This community is so much bigger than me and I'd love to have you all incorporated into it as much as possible. Send me your thoughts and ideas... Our first Zoom chat of 2022 will be on Tuesday, January 18th. RSVP at link below: |

Sorry for the length of this one... guess I did a year-end brain dump! Since we have several newcomers, hopefully this will help you all "settle in" to your own personal process. (holler if you have questions!) May the wonders of Christmas and the peace of God surround you fully. Hugs and prayers, Dianna |
