Thoughts of the Week
We both managed to get away for the May Half term holiday and, for both, it has turned out to be somewhat eventful!
Rebecca, along with the children and her in-laws escaped to the Isle of Wight, whereas Victoria managed to get a last-minute holiday, with some of her husband's family, to Portugal.
The holidays themselves (or vacations as we know some of you would call them 😜) have been fabulous and we both enjoyed some well-earned relaxation and sunshine.
The Isle of Wight is a picturesque place (you may remember pictures, from a previous newsletter, when she visited before in August) and Rebecca enjoyed exploring the quaint little villages, walking over the cliffs to Sandown and visiting an amazing donkey sanctuary (free entry and you wouldn't believe the number of donkeys they look after, as well as quite a few Shetland ponies!)
Portugal is also very beautiful and Victoria and her children loved sightseeing, spending time in the pool and visiting the rustic restaurants and friendly bars. It did her a lot of good as even her psoriasis calmed down!
However, both holidays ended on a slightly frantic note:
Rebecca's parents-in-law broke down on the way home. It shouldn't have been too much of a problem as they are in the RAC (a breakdown company) so, once the rescue vehicle arrived, Rebecca continued on back to Bolton. However, despite her mother-in-law informing the RAC that their campervan was kaput and would need transporting home with them (onward travel covered by their policy) AND the RAC confirming that this would be done, they were simply towed to the nearest service station and left there for over 7 hours! 😱
The promised transporter vehicle never arrived and, in the end, they were just sent a taxi and did not arrive back in Bolton until around 3am! Of course, if she'd known this, Rebecca would have brought them back with her. They have no idea when their campervan will arrive home! So, if you are in the UK, we would definitely recommend using a different company for breakdown cover!!
The UK added Portugal to their Amber list (in terms of Covid) and Victoria had to pay a lot extra (it is unfair how companies exploit such situations to make a profit) to get an earlier flight home (and could only get one to Manchester rather than Liverpool - where they departed from). As a good sister (😜), Rebecca has offered to pick them up from the airport tomorrow and bring them home. Victoria will then collect her car from Liverpool the following day. So, at least they haven't as much to worry about now.
Perhaps we will never fully be free of the spectre of Covid-19 but, wherever you are, we hope things are looking up and you are managing to appreciate and enjoy even the simpler things of life.
Some exciting news - we loved our book covers for Dark Betrayal and Dark Secrets but decided to get them tweaked a little.
Please see new and improved versions below! We hope you like them!
Really happy with this review we received recently. Cheered us up when we really needed it! Thank you to "ishitasingh2609"
Apologies in advance for the language!
Damn good
"It's an underrated novel. I really liked it. It has some good story to keep the reader engaged. And the way it's written, I loved it. It doesn't contain some shit things like a character's POV. It's perfectly narrated. It's different from other love stories!"
