CHANGING SEASONS The night of October 30, an early killing frost hit the School Garden and Corey Richmond's front two acres, knocking out rows of remaining pumpkins, tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants. It was a good lesson for our High School students about the timing of Halloween and the Day of the Dead. Nevertheless, the greenhouse is already full of seedlings for cold-weather crops soon to be transplanted. |

THIRD ANNUAL FALL HARVEST FESTIVAL REPORT: OCTOBER 20 2019 |

Close to 1000 people of all ages spent a beautiful Autumn afternoon shopping for vegetables harvested that morning by our farmers, visiting educational booths, playing wild games, exploring the grounds, connecting with animals, listening to music by Miss Leo and her Bluegrass Boy and enjoying food and drink prepared with farm ingredients. A new old-fashioned method of washing and rewashing plates, cutlery and glasses introduced by Janine Rands was carried out by volunteers making sure this was really a zero-waste event. |

The last corn harvest from PBHS Garden went to the San Luis Coastal USD kitchen at Laguna to be served at School Lunch. Heirloom tomatoes from City Farm are served at November tastings. |

Jade Rosario joins us as Farm Manager, responsible for directing and planning agricultural activities at the School Garden, introducing new activities like vermiculture and and carbon sequestration, and collaborating with Teresa Lees, Education Coordinator, on curriculum, Field Trips and the Farm Box Program |

Shane Lovell brings his skills as designer and builder to the tasks of Site Manager, having already coordinated the construction of the new chicken run and improvements to the Food Forest. Shane works closely with the education team to lead student groups in building and maintenance projects. |
