Efficient Task Management

My wife, Aysegul Dilek Yazdanpanah, just published a very important blog post on efficient task management using the Eisenhower Matrix and Covey's quadrants. In life, learning, and work, properly planning and prioritizing tasks is key to productivity, and there are timeless methodologies that can provide valuable insights.

The "Eisenhower Matrix" categorizes tasks into four groups: do first, schedule for later, delegate, and delete. Similarly, Stephen Covey's "quadrants" in the international best seller "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" offers a strategic approach to task categorization: Necessity, Extraordinary Productivity, Distraction, and Waste.

Understanding the difference between urgent and important is essential, as Eisenhower noted: "The urgent are not important, and the important are never urgent." Covey suggests shifting from urgency to importance in overcoming the "urgency addiction."

A Wise Approach to Designing Online Courses

My friend and collaborator Jean-Marc Wise and I presented the following webinar to introduce a method of course design that guides educators in setting meaningful goals and defining an appropriate scope based on the subject matter.

This approach ensures the clear and correct alignment of course outcomes, objectives, assessments, learning activities, and content. This is accomplished through the systematic use of standardized documents that support the coordination and collaboration of contributing stakeholders. As a result, course development projects yield consistent learner experiences and effective documentation to guide the facilitation and maintenance of the course.

This presentation is of benefit to anyone interested in learning more about the instructional design of educational courses. As you will see, the recording also includes valuable comments and questions from the audience.

Quote

"I have two kinds of problems, the urgent and the important. The urgent are not important, and the important are never urgent."

- Dwight D. Eisenhower, 34th President of the United States

Question

What are "priorities" in your life that you can schedule, delegate, or delete?

Until next week,
