Hi Everyone,
Wow, it is February already! We hope you all managed to get a break over the festive season. We were very fortunate to have a lovely Christmas day with family and for once.....Southland put on a stunner of a day!
The Harvest of our main crops is well under way with some fantastic grain yields. The Canola (this is the black seed in the picture below) has come off and has probably already been processed into your cooking oil "The Good Oil". We have also harvested some of the Barley and Oats. Fletcher has been really handy helping this harvest driving the tractors for unloading, its a shame that school has started again!
Our Hemp crop is looking AMAZING!!! We are really pleased with how it is looking. The male plants are dying off now and the female plants are filling the seed just nicely. Some varieties of Hemp have both male and female plants, this is called dioecious. We will be harvesting this around the 25th of February so it will be all hands on deck to get it off and dried.
Carly, Fletcher and Leah are now all back to their respective schools. This year we are involved with 3 different schools, YIKES! We did manage to get a very relaxing week away in Cromwell and the lake was superb. We live in such a beautiful country.
Thank you so much for your support!
Until next time, take care
Blair, Jody, Carly, Fletcher and Leah
