Joining the BAYCS Team gives great leadership opportunities as well as chances to take initiative within the climate movement! COP26 (aka Conference of the Parties) is an annual gathering held by the UN that is happening in Glasgow, Scotland this year. BAYCS BOOK & TOY DRIVE BAYCS is partnering with local high schools and the Children’s Book Project to collect books for kids in need in time for the holiday season! From 11/29 to 12/10, there will be drop off locations at Lick-Wilmerding, San Domenico, Galileo, Alameda, Berkeley, College Prep, and more. We would especially appreciate any books that include people of color or are written in other languages! Unfortunately we cannot accept ripped, torn, dirty, annotated books, textbooks/ learning materials, non-fiction books older than ten years, and some criteria. HAVE YOU HEARD OF TEAM SEAS? Team Seas is removing 30 million pounds of trash from our oceans by raising $30 million by Jan 1 2021. This global campaign is removing trash from oceans, beaches and rivers with help from the Ocean Conservancy and The Ocean Cleanup. Previously Mr. Beast and Mark Rober started the #TeamTrees movement similar to this new campaign with Team Seas only with planting 20 million trees by 2020. Raising over 23 million dollars they are headed to fight their next global challenge: plastic pollution. | | |
