Kat Fritz Louisville, CO Violin, Viola, Music Mind Games, Music Together Current President/Fall Festival Chair It has been a great honor to serve as the Board President of the Suzuki Association of Colorado for the last four years working alongside a fabulous and talented team of teachers and leaders in their communities and beyond. As a Suzuki teacher for the last twenty years, I am always overjoyed to be a part of the process of musical development and discovery with my students and families and have the fortune to bring music to my community. When I am not teaching, I love to camp in my VW van, cook with my boys, and snuggle with my dog, Rusty. In June, I proudly hand the baton over to Anna Salmon, President-elect, and plan to stay involved with SAC as a general board member. |

Anna Salmon Denver, CO Piano, SECE VP/Incoming President/Trophy Festival Chair I am a recent transplant to Denver CO, from New Haven, Connecticut and more recently coming from Dallas, TX. I was part of the North Texas Suzuki Association for many years, where I learned much about being an active member of an SAA chapter affiliate. I am thrilled to join the board of the SAC and excited for the future of this wonderful community! The SAC board members are incredibly driven and inspired, and I am fortunate to be part of such a great team. I currently have a Suzuki Piano studio in the City Park neighborhood of Denver and also teach SECE. The Suzuki method calls to me because of its emphasis on character, high quality results of playing, and organized pedagogical ideas. In my spare time, I enjoy skiing, yoga, singing/songwriting, and spending time with my wonderful husband Ian and dog Rhody. |

Liz Gergel Denver, CO Cello, SECE Incoming Vice President It has been an honor to be part of the Suzuki community for the past 23 years, first as a student and now as a teacher. I began my cello teacher training in the summer of 2012, and in 2016 completed my Book 10 training. As a faculty member of the Oregon Suzuki Institute, I am privileged to work with incredibly inspiring teachers. I am excited to begin my journey being more involved in the CO Suzuki Association. My teaching studio operates out of Centennial, CO, where I have been teaching for the past three years. I love the community building that is an inherent part of the Suzuki Method. When I am not teaching or performing, I can often be found hiking or running in the gorgeous CO mountains with my dog Luka. |

Kathleen Romanyshyn Denver, CO Cello Treasurer I received my B. A. in Music Education from California State University, Fullerton in 1983 and my Suzuki Teaching Certificate from the University of Denver, Lamont School of Music in 2005. I have been teaching cello in Arvada since receiving my certification. I was drawn to the Suzuki method because of its foundation on the natural language approach. In my studio I strive to create a supportive, nurturing relationship with my students. I enjoy being part of the journey with parents and students toward greater musical ability. I am currently a member of the Lakewood Symphony. I have also been a member of the Jefferson Symphony and the Stratus Chamber Orchestra.

Andrea Coyle Denver, CO Violin, Viola, SECE Newsletter I teach Suzuki violin and viola from my home studio in SW Denver. I’ve been a part of the Suzuki community in Colorado since 2012 and have enjoyed long term training, short term training, workshops, observations, institutes, private studio teaching, Suzuki in the schools teaching, and more! While I now work to edit the SAC newsletter I have served as the scholarship chair, fall festival coordinator, and secretary during my years as an SAC member. My favorite parts of SAC are the local community and teacher development opportunities. I’m grateful to have these resources to take back to the Suzuki families in my private teaching studio. In addition to teaching I enjoy hiking, knitting (pretty much all crafts), bee keeping, fiddling, gardening, reading, and spending time with my husband (Nick) and cat (Eowyn)! |

Adam Riggs Arvada, CO Cello Webmaster I’ve had the lucky privilege to start my muscial journey as a Suzuki student at the age of 4. Suzuki has been a huge part of my life, so it only seemed natural that I would get involved as a teacher at some point in my career. I have 3 degrees in cello performance, including my Doctor of Musical Arts Degree from CU in 2014 and I completed my long term Suzuki training at University of Denver in 2016. I have been teaching in Colorado for 10 years and I have been on the SAC board for 5 years and have served as Treasurer, Chair of Teacher Scholarships and am currently the Webmaster. |

Laura McDermott Aurora, CO Violin, Viola Social Media Hi! I am Laura McDermott. I teach violin, viola, do chinrest fittings and am working at getting certified in body mapping to help people use their bodies well to make great music. Back in the 90's I did my Suzuki training at DU and was the SAC newsletter person for a few years. Now, I am the social media and scholarship person for SAC. My first violin teacher was the first Suzuki teacher in Denver. I love the Suzuki belief that everyone can learn to play and learn to play well.

Dennise Cherkauer Fort Collins, CO Viola, Violin Membership Dennise Cherkauer has taught Suzuki Method violin and viola for over 25 years and currently serves as the membership chair for Suzuki Association of Colorado. She previously served on the board of the Suzuki Association of Northern California as the newsletter editor and the Stanford Play-In chair. Ms. Cherkauer loves teaching Suzuki Method for many reasons, one of which is the solid technical foundation it provides. When learning an instrument, good technique is everything. Good technique makes it easier to play, and when it's easier to play, practicing is a joy. When practicing is a joy, amazing things happen!

Dyane Rogelstad Fort Collins, CO Piano, SECE Historian My name is Dyane Rogelstad. I'm the SAC Board Historian. I grew up as a Suzuki piano student and began assisting my Mom in her studio in 1980, completing my registered SAA units during the years following as a mother of my own three Suzuki kiddos. I enjoy participating as a Board member, as it has given me opportunities to connect with other local teachers in support of the wider Colorado family of Suzuki students. |
