Happy Earth Day 2020!

Here at Sandhill Designs Studios we try to make every day Earth Day. This topsy-turvy year —2020— has been a memorable one so far, and our hearts go out to those struggling with the effects of this pandemic. Our response to being secluded in our country home in Western New York has been to spend time in our studios and reach out on social media. Yes, we have changed gears a bit, since our gallery shows have been postponed. And while I have been working on an international online show (see below), Sandhill Bill has been building some wonderful planting boxes to grow veggies in this summer. Not exactly his typical fine furniture, but he is putting his usual craftsmanship into the project. Hope this finds you healthy and doing ok in these strange times we are living in. —Wendy

Earth Day 🌎 Give Away!

Hurry, I will pick the winner on Saturday 4/25 at 6PM!

To encourage a little help for the many struggling organizations who champion our environment, I am offering some incentive to donate. This is a special piece I did in honor of my favorite planet. And I'm going to give it away to someone. All I ask is for you to make an online donation to the environmental organization of your choice. Any amount. Take a photo of the confirmation page including the name of organization and send it to me (direct message or email) and I will select a random winner on Saturday, April 25th at 6pm EDT. Free shipping to USA.
About the art: it’s mixed media ...ink, colored pencil, and of course, a cut paper element! The cut paper circle is about 7”,mounted to a 9” square of rich black Fabriano paper. See detail of the little masked people holding hands around the world. Happy Earth Day!

Wendy Bale Art1st goes International!

BREAKING NEWS! I am thrilled to tell you about a new project I've become involved with this past month. I have banded together with 20 other artists from nine countries to form a group called the International Online Art Collective (IOAC). I spoke about it in detail during my Monday Movie episode 42. In a nutshell, we are a small group of professional artists who met through the Art Nxt Level Academy and got to know each other on social media. Our art is diverse, but we do have one big thing in common, a desire to share our work around the World. I'm happy to get to introduce you to these amazing artists...and to announce the launch of our IOAC  Facebook page. Please take a moment to follow the page, you will be glad you did, I promise!

P.S. The Green Heron cut paper piece (above, left), was supposed to make its debut at the Crary Art Gallery in Warren, PA at our show, Riparian Zone, which has been postponed. A few of the pieces created for that show I've offered up for viewing through IOAC, but never fear, there are plenty more surprises to reveal when we open the rescheduled Riparian Zone and my solo show, PaperCuts at Tri-County Arts Council.

Stay tuned for future announcements and in the meantime, stay safe, everyone!
