Welcome to Golf Hammock! Our street captains and welcoming committees are out meeting and greeting new residents as soon as possible. The purpose of the street captain is the enhanced communication between homeowner and GHOA board. The completion of the “Welcome to Our Community” form is vital to our data base and treasurer. A question they may ask is if you are a seasonal or year round resident or where do you receive your mail? If a street captain has not introduced themselves to you please contact either street captain co-chairmen to assist you. Street Captain co-chairmen contact is: Cindy Bowser 260-348-9179- clb1919@yahoo.com Linda Schroeder - lindasfl70@yahoo.com |

Words from the Acting President Want to thank all those that attended the October business meeting to stay informed. The Board encourages Golf Hammock homeowners to attend and participate with the Board, to keep our community top notch. In the meeting, an update regarding drainage was provided regarding Cormorant Point Drive, Chip-It Way and Duffer Loop extension., The Board also began the budget process in anticipation of 2019 operating costs. The Secretary has been very busy with community activities and promoting activities to serve the community. All Board members welcomed Diann and Larry Rose as new Board members. The Board is moving in several directions with respect to the MRTA. See minutes for latest update. Finally, as a reminder our community receives a large influx of trick or treaters. Trick or Treating is October 27, 2018 between 6 pm and 9 pm. |

Words from the Secretary My main goal is to improve communication throughout our community. If there is community news that you think should be posted in the newsletter please give me a call 574-529-2718 or drop me an email secretary.ghoa@gmail.com and I try my best to get that done. I am hopeful that as communication is developing throughout our neighborhood this newsletter will be informative and valued. This newsletter is an instrument used to pass along positive, good neighbor type pieces of information. My goal is that everyone within our community knows that they have a place to get information regarding our association and a website to search that is updated on a regular basis. Monthly board minutes from both the GHOA and Cormorant Point and shout-out information are added as they become available. Various forms and documentation are also available on the website. It is also important that everyone has the knowledge and opportunity to attend monthly board meetings informing and engaging them in our community. Remember to check out the website, https://nextdoor.com. Keep in mind that this is a third party website and is not sponsored, funded or operated by the GHOA. Invitations may come to you in the mail as someone within our community has “sent you an invitation” to join this site. This website is a great tool for finding goods and/or services that you may need or find useful. Most often these goods and/or services are within our community or surrounding areas. This site will be used to post events happening right here in Golf Hammock! I also want to thank all that attended our “Meet and Greet” which was held for “new residents” moving into the GHOA since January 2018 to current. It was very successful. Together with Golf Hammock Country Club (GHCC) early plans on organizing a meet and greet for “all residents” to attend first part of 2019. Please watch for future updates in the newsletter and shout-outs! In addition, I have received some calls and emails regarding residents that don’t have computers and email accounts. I apologize for the inconvenience this may cause; however, the majority of the community does have the ability to get on-line. To print, copy and post mark the newsletter is not a cost effective way of communicating at this time. Appreciation is given to all those who have taken the time to print copies of this newsletter for those neighbors. Once again, I along with Ruthie, our webmaster, appreciate all the positive feedback we have received for producing this newsletter. Many hours are devoted to its success. So please keep those good vibes coming! P.S. McCracken Farms has become our new fruit and vegetable vendor. The day and time is the same as previously set. Wednesdays, 11 AM to 1PM, near the tennis court parking lot. Going into the winter season in Florida, this vendor has a previous stop that might cause a slight delay on arrival. Please check it out! Let’s make this worthwhile! Stop and pick up some fresh produce right here in Golf Hammock. DebSteuer, GHOA Secretary secretary.ghoa@gmail.com |

Looking for Volunteers! The GHOA Board consists of 9 members manned by volunteers elected by the Association. The board recently filled the two positions that were vacant due to resignations that took place this summer! Exciting news! Welcome Diann and Larry Rose to the GHOA board and thank you for showing your support not only toward the board but having the community’s best interests in mind moving into 2019. On the note, the GHOA board will have its 3 member rotation at the end of this calendar year, Bob Schroeder, Nancy Beatty and Marge Schindewolf. This January their terms are ending and up for re-election if they so choose. If you are interested in becoming a board member, please create a brief summary of your life experiences that would make positive impacted on our community here within Golf Hammock and submit them to Deb Steuer, at secretary.ghoa@gmail.com |

The architectural chairman is Roger Steuer ghoatreasurer@gmail.com If you are making any changes to the appearance of your home take a moment, send an email, making the association aware of your project. Currently, many are installing generators, this is a required approval and many if not all contactors in this area are aware that documentation approval is needed for this equipment to be installed. Keep in mind just like unsightly trash cans are not to be seen from the street, appropriate screening should be concealing tanks, etc. Sheds or other structures as well as fences and many other projects require building permits according to the Highland County building and zoning departments. This procedure verifies that your project is within the guideline of the stated rules and regulations. This only protects you as a homeowner. Please contact the building and zoning department verifying what your project requires and the guidelines that are to be followed. Trash cans and either bulk waste or yard waste items need only be at the street edge the night before trash pickup. If you happen to have a bulk waste item out on a yard waste day, that item needs to be returned to the residents until the correct collection day. It has been noted that items in error are sitting at the street edge for a week – this is not the good neighbor thing to do. Please respect others and do the right thing. Speaking of trash collection… Each time one of the trash collection trucks has to allow a vehicle to pass, its tires must run or stand on the edge of the pavement. Please consider altering your route in and out of Golf Hammock when you hear or see the trucks nearby. This is one simple step we all can take in torder to minimize wear and tear on the pavement edges of our narrow roads. Halloween and Trick or Treating go hand in hand here in Golf Hammock. If you haven’t been around to witness the evening, be prepared for lots of kids and have lots a candy on hand. Many trick or treaters come through the neighborhood in decorated golf carts to hay filled wagons. The date and time for Trick or Treating in Sebring is set this year for Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 6 pm – 9 pm. If you plan to participate have your porch light on and weather permitting just sit outside. Many neighbors sit near the street edge. If you don’t want to participate, leave your porch light off. Halloween on the Circle, Downtown Sebring is Friday, October 26, 2018 from 5 pm to 8 pm. |
