What We’re Up To

 

City of Perry Bicentennial Exhibit at 2024 Georgia National Fair

The Perry Area Historical Society Museum will be presenting a City of Perry Bicentennial Exhibit for the 2024 Georgia National Fair.  Included will be 200 years of history featuring local travel, fashion, education, agriculture, and toursim.  Exhibits will include iconic photgraphy, memorabilia, antiquity, and signage that showcases, the past and present culture of a city incorporated in 1824.

Evergreen Cemetery

Seated on the banks of Big Indian Creek, Evergreen Cemetery is a beautiful and historic cemetery that attracts photographers, genealogists, ghost hunters, and tourists.

 

The cemetery contains more history than one could hope to tell in one article. But if you want more, you are in luck. Website Developer

David Washington

David is a Perry native graduating from Westfield Schools in 1980.  In 1981, David joined the US Navy as an Aviation Antisubmarine Warfare Technician and after 4 years of active duty left the Navy as a Third-Class Petty Officer.  After the Navy, David worked for Robins AFB in the Avionics Software Division for 13 years.  During this time, David earned a BA in Information Technology and Communications from Georgia College.  He then accepted a position with the US Office of Personnel Management Data Center in Macon where he retired after 21 years.

 

David has a passion for history and genealogy.  He has been a past president of the Central Georgia Genealogical Society and today is the website developer for the Perry Area Historical Society.  His vision for the website is to create a modern and interesting site to share the history of our wonderful town, Perry Georgia.
