Barn Talk

If you have been following me on Facebook or Instagram you would know I have had my own little drama with my beautiful horse Geronimo having a nasty accident and potentially could have been a really horrible outcome. This boy is my heart horse and it was like it was just meant to be. He has a lovely nature but a little bit of a tortured soul. Not from his last owner but from life in general, I even had a animal communicator work with us and it was an amazing outcome.Whilst it looked like a really nasty wound he had actually torn his digital extensor tendon and we feared sepsis and also bone damage. The bone damage has not  been ruled out as yet hopefully in the next few days.So what have I done as an Equine Body Therapist, I immediately commenced acupuncture with the intention to reduce the swelling, prompt the body to heal and stop infection. The initial treatment I did at the vets and they were amazed the next day that the swelling had reduced significantly. The acupuncture treatments are happening every 2-3 days and I mix this with red light therapy everyday on his wounds. So when someone expects me to fix everything in one session, likelihood is it is not going to happen. Often if it is just soreness in the muscle you will get released but by the above example it takes a little time. If you are experiencing something like this and would like some wound treatment we can work on a quote to cover it.So apart from that what else is new…… well I had a fantastic photoshoot for branding my business with the fabulous Rachel Flynn from Equine Photography by Rachel Flynn. I loved the process and she made it all so easy. It is the little things Rachel does that makes it special and she has an amazing talent to be able to capture that connection. The above photo was from one of our sessions so now it is time to do some work and update the website.  Head over to Rachel’s web site and sign up for the monthly newsletter and you can win a photo session every yes EVERY month: https://www.equinephotographybyrachelflynn.com/.

Rock Tape  - Product review

I love rock tape. Kinesiology is amazing in engaging the musclers and the limbs into re-energizing. It can also be used for rehab, training , core muscles, engaging the hind and lots more uses but the best thing is both rider and horse can benefit from it.

How many times as a rider you have been told about your hands, keep them low or as my instructor use to say - pretend you are holding a glass of wine in your hands and DON'T spill it, Well a simple strap of rock tape and every time your hands divitate from where they should be your muscle will be reminded!

Happy to book a treatment and come out and show you how your horse and you can benefit from RockTape.  We also sell it in our store!

BaiHui - Acupuncture Point

This point is located on midline usually at highest point of rump between the Sacral and lumbar vertebra. Baihui is always the first point needled, and the last point to be removed. Give it some time to work before adding next needles. You will see horse settle down.
It is used to give an idea of how the horse will react to needling and also to give the horse an idea of what to expect.
It is called Baihui 'one hundred meeting points', as many channels meet here. Also it is used to keep a balance from one side to the other when needling is occurring only on one side.
