Our New Propane System

Have you noticed the yellow poles next to our main office entry? Over the winter holiday, Northeast Heating and Cooling replaced the oil fired furnace to propane fueled system to create a safer and greener environment for teachers and students. Thank you Northeast Heating and Cooling for your continuous support as members of the HA family.

Face Mask Fashion Contest

Face masks are not only part of our daily essentials, but also an inspiration for personal  creativity. Mrs. Shaw and Mrs. Roberts have led the whole school to participate in an upcoming Face Mask Fashion Contest.  Stay tuned for the final results as voted by all teachers and students next week.

Parent Survey

A parent survey has been sent out earlier this week to all parents. We appreciate your feedback so as to better serve our students and community. Please take a few minutes to complete and submit.

Please click HERE to take the survey.

Lost & Found Bin

A "Lost and Found" bin has been placed in the foyer of our main office building. Please have your child(ren) check it out or contact our office if you have any missing items.

Lower School Highlights

Mrs. Cope's Class

Mrs. Cope class was having a busy week. The students were experimenting to see if fat keeps the whales warm using ice water and crisco, and observing what happens when water is absorbed by a coffee filter: it blends the colors!

Mrs. Matos's Class

Our first and second grade students have been working on their ocean animal projects. They are learning about their favorite ocean animal of choice and gathering facts in order to complete a project.

Mrs. Corbin's Class

After completing a reading unit on Folk Tales, Fairy Tales, and Tall Tales, the students in grades 3-5 decided it would be fun to create a Cinderella play using the green screen.  They chose characters to portray and have been recording small segments of the fairy tale each Friday.  When the play is complete, they will share the video with students in Mrs. Matos and Mrs. Cope's class and on the school website.  Students in grades 3-5 have enjoyed learning green screen technology.

Upper School Highlights

Mrs. Robert's Class

Upper School students used an electroscope to detect the presence of an electric charge. Students observed the reaction of charged materials when placed next to the pith balls to determine whether the materials were positively or negatively charged. Look, Chloe's cat also participated in the experiment!

Specials at HA

Mrs. Shaw's Art Class

The upper school worked in pairs and alone creating sculptures inspired by the artist Louise Nevelson: who worked monochromatically and used many found objects from the streets of New York in her work. The students titled their sculptures and used repetition of shapes and forms to move the viewer's eye throughout the composition.

Mrs. Weber's

Spanish Class

Our lower grade students learned about vegetables in Spanish this week. They were singing and drawing about all kinds of vegetables. You may want to quiz your child about what the word "pumpkin" is in Spanish.
