The rain is back in the Greater Seattle area and it's looking like a cooler, wetter fall than 2022 and 2023. We will take time to discuss our bees -- after all, beekeepers always talk bees -- but first we will take time Wed to recognize SnoKing's achievements in the last year and particularly at the Evergreen State Fair that ended only 2 weeks ago. For other clubs and organizations, May or June is the time for recognitions and awards, but for beekeepers, it comes at the end of our active season -- September/October. SnoKing applied for the WASBA Large Club of the Year award and nominated someone for Beekeeper of the Year award. In filling out all that paperwork, we realized that we need to take time to celebrate our accomplishments as a club and as individuals. |

|
A lot of that recognition is owed for public outreach events and we will show pictures of us at the Evergreen State Fair and talk about our booth and 11 days of presentations and public interaction there. Also, we will be drawing for prizes this Wed; more on those and how the drawing will be done live at that meeting in the reminder email coming out this Wed 9/18 morning. In this newsletter, we just want to showcase efforts made by club individuals in some pictures and by including an abridged version of the pages-long Club of the Year application that took weeks to put together and that made us realize what wonderful volunteers make up this club. Many do not appear in that list of outreach events and public impacts that SnoKing has had on both the beekeeping community and the non-beekeeping community. We are so impressed by the sum of individual accomplishments that we are listing them here right after these |

And many other members did public outreach that we could not include in the application, but we would like to recognize that they are also part of what makes SnoKing the most dynamic, interactive bee club around! SnoKing also had to submit 10 of the recipes we collected from our members, which we will publish in future newsletters as space permits. It was also required that we submit names of 80% of our members that are WASBA-certificated. Please note: we released names only and no personal information other than what is already in WASBA databanks. The Evergreen State Fair Schedule of presentations the SnoKing Fair Team did is pictured here: |

Policy Statement: There will be one essential rule at Trophallaxis and at any meeting or activity hosted by SnoKing Beekeepers. Ron Robinson stated it best for our Facebook discussion group, when he said: "SKBA prides itself on the fact we are not like other groups on Facebook. We have become known as a safe group for keepers of all levels to comfortably ask questions and opinions without being blasted or publicly humiliated for asking what may seem like a very basic question to others. Any harassing, bullying, demeaning behavior, or such will not be tolerated. We have a zero tolerance policy and such behavior will result in immediate removal from club and all club activities." |
