PASTORAL PAGE SHALOM by Dr Peter Lim It has been almost 80 years since World War Two ended. Unfortunately, armed conflicts have continued unabated in different parts of the world – the war in Ukraine is almost two years old; the Hamas’ shocking attack on Israel in early October has prompted the expected reprisal from Israel. Since 9/11, hostilities have become more sinister with the emergence of terrorist fanatical groups like the ISIS. From their ranks have emerged modern kamikaze suicide bombers who have created untold havoc and suffering with their misdirected heroics. Like everywhere else, Singapore is not immune from such heinous attacks. We have been constantly reminded by the authorities that we have to be prepared and stay vigilant against such atrocities. MEMBER AFFIRMATION EXERCISE As we welcome new members into our church each year, we would also like our existing members to affirm their membership. CHANGE IN WORSHIP SERVICE TIMINGS Starting 2-3 December 2023, the English Worship Services timings will be changed as follows: Saturday English Service: 5.00pm-6.30pm Sunday English Service 1: 8.30am-10.00am Sunday English Service 2: 10.30am-12.00pm Kids For Christ (K.F.C.) will also follow the above timings for Saturday English Service and Sunday English Service 2. This change brings us back to pre-Covid timings, which affords us a slightly longer time for the services. Service timings for Teenacity, CRUX and Chinese Service will remain unchanged. |

ENGLISH WORSHIP SERVICES IN DECEMBER For the month of December 2023, the primary school children from Kids For Christ (K.F.C.) will be joining the Worship and Prayers of the People segments of the English Worship Services, after which they will leave for their regular K.F.C. classes. There will also be no Teenacity and CRUX services. The youths and young adults will be at the regular Saturday or Sunday Worship Services. |

CHRISTMAS LOVE OFFERING A Christmas love gift collection will be taken on 9 & 10 December 2023 for all the staff and members who are ministry-missionaries or those serving with para-church organisations, and are receiving support from church. The collection at the worship services can be put into the designated collection boxes at the exits of the Sanctuary. DONATION DRIVE FOR CEBU MISSION TRIP 2023 There will be a mission trip to Cebu from 26 to 30 December 2023. Our church has a long-standing partnership with the local church in Cebu and has been conducting yearly mission trips there. The local pastors have requested for more resources to support the worship ministry and the Go To School (GTS) program, a program integrated with the local church’s outreach work. We will be conducting a donation drive from 18 November 2023 (Saturday) to 15 December 2023 (Friday) in support of these efforts. We recommend donating the following items: * Working laptops (with charger, preferably with Microsoft Office installed) * Acoustic guitars (with strings) * Music theory books (with simple theory notes) Please contact Alice Ng (8661-7428) or Sean Koh (9751-0775) on the following: * For collection in church of the above items. Do note that we might be unable to take on all donations due to luggage constraints. The donation drive will close at 6.00pm on 15 December 2023 (Friday). * Donation of other items such as books/clothes so that we can check if these items can be accommodated. * Any other enquiries. COUNSELLING MINISTRY There are certain times in our lives when we feel stuck or unable to cope. If you are going through a season of challenges and need emotional support, the Lay Counselling Ministry in the Bible Church would love to pray and journey with you through your struggles and difficulties. Trained counsellors are available to help with pastoral care and short-term counselling for children, youth and adults, including TBC members, regular attendees and those seeking Christian counsel.
