President's Corner

Fall is Right Around the Corner

The lazy-ish days of summer are winding down and it’s time to start thinking about fall. Our in-person meetings will return on Wednesday, September 6 at Noon. Pack up your brochures, agency announcements, lunch, and colleagues, and plan to join us at Calvary Church.

Traditionally in September, the Training & Education Committee plans a short Self-Care Training for our members. This year the topic has a little wider focus and a longer time frame. We’re excited to partner with our very own Evelyn Wald and Jennifer Eisenhuth to provide a half-day conference on Understanding Personal and Professional Boundaries.

We all know how difficult this topic can be in human services. We want to help our clients any way we can but sometimes the lines get blurred.

How do we build rapport with our clients without sharing too much? How do we learn to say no when a client’s demands become over the top? And, in keeping with the self-care theme, how can we do a better job to keep home stressors at home and work at work? There’s no perfect solution and it’s hard to maintain, but I think this training will help remind us how to make the best of the situations we encounter.

Please see below for the registration details. It will be a great way to end the week and it’s open to any and all of your agency’s staff and administration.

Enjoy soaking up the last few weeks of summer and we’ll see you in September!
