Life has been a crazy whirlwind lately... |

This newsletter was started the last week of March...and every time I sat down to finish it, something would come up. The kids have a lot of animals in the barn and they are still in the "green stages." And by green stages, I mean they need to have Wade or I with them to walk or wash them. They are still in the early stages of halter breaking/walking. It is one of the hard parts that make it truly frustrating. As I write this on Friday afternoon, the east side of our barn roof is getting put on...then it will be finished! It looks so different. Wade and I both had such a hard time deciding to do it, as we truly loved the old barn just as it was. We do know that this will last another 100 plus years and continue to be a place that we spend many hours together as a family...the memories. I included some pictures of before, during and after. The kids will kick their show season off on Sunday in our neighboring town of Mount Pleasant. For the last 2 weeks it has been 60 to 85 degrees...projected forecast for Sunday... mid 40s and 40% chance of rain. Super! Not! LOL. They will manage and we will tell them, "Grin and Bear It!" Sydney has two heifers and Jackson has one. We have a few month cattle shows this month, followed by the month of May with pig shows. Until next month, ~Elly |

What I am Reading & Watching |
|
|
| | I am currently making my way thru this book. My cousin, John wrote this book about his life & time in the military. I am a third of the way in and must say, I can't believe how much different military life is compared to mine. I am so thankful for the service men & women give to our country. | | |
|
| | Going back to my absolute favorite show, NCIS. Now, they are on Season 20 right now and I don't love it like I did when Mark Harmon, AKA Gibbs was on there but I still watch it. Sydney has watched one or two of the very first episodes. I still can't believe it has been on for over 20 years... I feel sooooo old! | | |

How many of us are guilty of treating our dogs like....humans? or children? It's me, Hi! I'm the problem it's me. Here is the thing...dogs need three things to BE A GOOD DOG. Discipline, Boundaries & Expectations. Physical & Mental Exercise Love
So many times we forget dogs need structure and rules and exercise that it ends up leading to behavior problems. Make sure you get THEIR NEEDS met first, then love on them. |

You have your puppy...now what training? Training starts the minute you pick up your furry friend! Last newsletter, I talked about puppy-proofing. To make sure you get your puppy started off on the correct foot, again...they will need to have those rules & expectations. If they don't know what you expect of them, they will just do whatever they want. Not a great way to start off your life-long relationship. Just like with kids, they best training should be based on positive reinforcement. Figure out what motivates your dog, whether it is your attention, play time or treats and use that to your advantage. Here is a great article to help you get started with basic training. To start off on the right foot (and paw!) with your pup, they’ll need to know what you expect. This will make them feel secure in their ability to meet the goals laid out going forward. |

When we send puppies home, we send a sample of our favorite pet shampoo from Monat. I signed up to be a Market Partner 5 years ago when they launched and believe in all their products 100% I used their haircare and skincare line. So does Sydney and Jackson. Wade still uses Melaleuca...it's about the only thing that gets piggy smells out, LOL! If you are interested in getting some or the spray, here is a link. | | |
