As I say - life never sits still! Or at least I don't!
I know I like to keep myself busy as a way to avoid too much time sitting still, vulnerable to thoughts which may upset me, such as memories of difficult times or past traumas. I have spent a lot of time working through most of those but I recognise that there is still some work to be done. As I have learned to be happy in my own company, sitting quietly, enjoying meditation or yoga practices or simply walking in nature allowing my thoughts to flow in and flow out, I have learned how to manage my responses to any troubling thoughts.
I am a stoic philosopher at heart! I am only responsible for myself and my own thoughts and actions - I cannot control other people, their thoughts, their words, their actions. As long as I remain faithful to myself and my true authentic spirit, I will respond calmly and in the moment, I will not react out of past trauma induced fear.
I have also learned to allow myself time to rest - to watch mindless TV, read, chat with friends or family. To not feel guilty - to not feel shamed into getting up and doing something in every moment. The body and mind need rest - what is shameful in listening to your own needs? It is not selfish to care for yourself in this way. It took me far too long to realise this. I still need reminding sometimes as social conditioning is strong like a computer program that needs overriding!
Having said all of that.....
I have upgraded my training further and am now a Licensed Practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming! I'll be updating the website with the logos and details soon. I use NLP in my counselling and hypnotherapy work where it is appropriate. It is a great way to reframe the way we look at the world. A new perspecive is sometimes all it takes to set ourselves free!
I'm also training further in Past Life Regression. I have had many enquiries about PLR and I know this is a contentious subject. PLR can be used for simple enjoyment and curiosity into who you have been in previous lives or to discover more about times gone by. However, PLR can also be used as a diagnostic and remedial tool for this life using regression to uncover and resolve past issues from a previous lifetime. Belief in past lives is not essential to the success of PLR therapy but it is fascinating and intriguing.
I'd be very interested in hearing your thoughts on the subject. Is PLR something you would try?
