              Free Legal Assistance for Tenants

The Office of Civil Justice (OCJ) has launched an updated Legal Services for Tenants webpage on the HRA website. The site is more user-friendly; it clarifies the COVID-19 emergency free legal services available to tenants citywide, regardless of their ZIP code.

If you receive court papers stating that your landlord has asked the Housing Court to enforce or restore an eviction order, if you receive a warrant of eviction from a marshal, you should contact OCJ to be connected with a free lawyer who can assist you. Please call 311 and ask for the City's Tenant Helpline.
