Dear Second Presbyterian Church Community,
We hope this update finds you happy and healthy! As we've mentioned, it is now more important than ever that we stay connected, so we continue to ensure you receive regular updates on the happenings at Second Presbyterian Church.
Combined Worship Service
We hope you’ve worshiped with us during our combined online worship services on Sundays with First Presbyterian Church and Countryside Trinity Church. Be sure to join us online this Sunday, May 17, 2020 at 10:30 AM as we continue to bring three of the Presbyterian congregations of Saginaw together during this time.

Lectionary Readings for the Sixth Sunday of Easter:
Worship
The Session has extended our current, online-only worship until health authorities deem it safe for 50 or more persons to gather. A task force has been established to develop procedures to help us safely gather again.
Non-Worship Activities
All non-worship activities of the church have been cancelled or postponed. At this time the group meetings, Youth Group, bazaar, or committee meetings are postponed.
Interim Pastor
A start date has not yet been established for our Interim Pastor, Rev. Philomena Ofori-Nipaah, we are hopeful she will begin her time with us during May or June.
The Upper Room
Anyone who wishes to download The Upper Room for daily meditations, click this link.
The Upper Room also has a list of resources such as Morning Prayers on Facebook Live, The Upper Room Prayer Wall, and many more resources available at this link.
Tithes and Gifts
We have received communications from folks with their concerns about continuing to support the church with their tithes and offerings. Our ministry continues even during our temporary building closure. This can be accomplished by mailing a check directly to the church or even setting up online bill pay. We thank each and every one of you for your continued support.
At this time, quarterly giving statements will not be delivered, as they are usually distributed following worship. Paper statements will be distributed in July. If you are in need of a giving statement please do not hesitate to contact the church office.
Mission News
Our mission for May is usually Forgotten Man Ministries. In response to God’s call to bring comfort and aid to the suffering in this crisis, the mission committee has decided that we will instead promote a non-perishable food collection to benefit the Ecumenical Food Pantry at First Presbyterian Church. As soon as we open the church for public gatherings, we will have a table set up to receive your food and cash donations in the main hallway.
If you are able, the mission committee encourages you to consider a financial donation to the Food Bank at First Presbyterian to help them keep their vital food ministry going. Please make your check out to “First Presbyterian Church” and write “Food Pantry” in the memo line. You can mail it to First Presbyterian Church, 121 S. Harrison St., Saginaw, MI 48602, or you can send it to our church, and we will make sure it gets there.
If you would also like to participate in Forgotten Man Ministries’ efforts to share the Gospel with the prisoners in the Saginaw County Jail, we have a way for you to do so. The mission committee plans to purchase “Free on the Inside” Bibles to donate to them sometime in early June. If you would like to contribute towards the purchase, simply send a check to the church with “Bibles” in the memo line.

The Session will meet virtually on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at 7:00 PM.

Office Hours
Due to the “Stay Home, Stay Safe” order the office will not be staffed during normal business hours. Voicemail, email, and postal mail will be monitored on a regular basis. If you need to contact the church, please use one of the above methods.
Reach Out!
Have you found yourself missing your church friends? We encourage our entire community to reach out to one another. Give someone a call, drop a note in the mail, send a text. Help us stay connected to one another.
If you know of someone in our church community who does not have internet access please share the latest in this mailing with them. Just because our regular worship has been put on hold doesn’t mean we stop worshipping our Lord by serving one another. We are in this together. We look forward to worshipping with you, from a distance, on Sunday.
Faithfully,
The Session
