News Updates

in our news section we have a new post describing the release of the original Obama Presidential Library bids from Hawai'i, Cornell (New York), University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) and University of Chicago.  The information in these bids reveal the independence of the Obama Foundation in creating the Obama Presidential Center.

Read here for more details.

Commentary by UChicago Law Professor Lior Strahilevitz on "Why the law favors the Obama Presidential Center" was published in the Chicago Tribune last week.  You can read the article here.

Strahilevitz compares the OPC siting in Jackson Park, where a museum, library and extensive community programming will directly benefit the surrounding communities with the Chicago Bears' exclusive rights to use Soldier Field during football season. A challenge to the Bears' agreement by Friends of the Parks (FOTP), and the rejection of this challenge by the Illinois Supreme Court established important legal precedent for the "public trust doctrine" which will weigh directly on the current POP lawsuit.
