Upcoming Pottstown Park Projects The Borough of Pottstown has three construction projects in the works for 2024 in Chestnut Street Park, Memorial Park, and Riverfront Park. Chestnut Street Park will undergo a partial redevelopment that will replace outdated park equipment, remove deteriorated features to create a bigger open play space, improve ADA accessibility, and add a paved path around the perimeter. The project will improve and expand recreational activities at this neighborhood park. The Memorial Park project will replace the steel pedestrian bridge that was damaged by the 2019 flash flood at Manatawny Creek. Additionally, the streambank will be stabilized upstream and downstream of the new bridge. Lastly, the Riverfront Park project will include two phases. Phase 1 is underway now and consists of streambank restoration. Phase 2 will happen in the fall and will replace the existing pedestrian bridge with a new prefabricated bridge. Both the Memorial Park project, and Riverfront Park project will improve pedestrian and bicycle circulation in the parks. Grant funding from these projects came from a variety of sources, including DCNR, DCED, and the Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation. |
