Catching up, exhibition walkthrough and seasons changing read time: 5mins |

It’s taken me a minute to get back to Soul Food, but remembering life is long and taking time to get back to a comfortable pace is a great thing. So often we hear that life is short, but really I think it is long. We experience so many phases which each feel so different. If we keep striving for a breadth of experience, growing towards our ever-changing priorities, there is so much to reflect on. |

Anyway, Welcome if you're new here! I've had a lot of new additions due to my exhibition. I aim for Soul Food to be a monthly or twice monthly check-in, but I’ve had a bit of a break due to my solo show. Afterwards, I needed time to reset, then I went on a short trip to Brussels to see a dear friend and then I painted a mural for 5 days straight. I’m getting back to a more balanced pace of life now. Above, working on the mural which I will complete with a final day this week! It is a huge map for an estate agents, designed by the talented Celia Wood. |

Art is Nourishment was an incredible experience, and I know I will want to do more shows in the future. Being able to engage with people face-to-face, whilst surrounded by my art was so valuable for me. If you couldn't make it, or you want to recap I now have a walktrhough of the show available above! |

So, what's coming next? I will be doing a sound bath (a guided meditation playing my singing bowls) at an upcoming exhibition. 'Unmade' will be held at Centrespace from 29th October -3rd November and the sound bath will be on 30th October. More info to come soon, but for now here is a poster (left). |

In November, I'm also taking part in the Totterdown Art Trail, it's a lovely opportunity to explore local artists in the South of Bristol by wandering between homes and local buildings. I will be at 195 Wells Road from 11am-6pm on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th November. I'll have many paintings, ceramics and other things available to view or buy. More info about the event can be found on their website here! |

For the last segment, I'll share a few recommendations with changing seasons in mind. I find the colder, darker months especially challenging mentally and so I've begun preparing to winter in my own way. Some key things I'm enjoying are: I've foraged a lot of blackberries lately, with the last bursts of crops still hanging around. It feels incredibly rewarding to connect with nature and collect your own food. Their bright colour when cooked with apples is joyful and makes a lovely warming snack I found this podcast episode really valuable. It focuses on attachment theory and mental health in relationships. Not my usual kind of share, but everything is relevant in a holistic look at art and healing. Lastly, it's Maus by Art Spiegelman. This is a comic that's won a Pulitzer Prize and been around for decades now but I always ignored it as soon as I saw the Swastika. I finally looked at it properly when my friend in Brussels shared their comic collection with me, and I realised that it depicts Spiegelman interviewing his father about his experiences as a Polish Jew and Holocaust survivor. Having German Jewish heritage myself, I have been engrossed by this story and love how accessible it is. I recommend reflecting on your heritage especially as the seasons change, it always feels more apt to me at this time. Comics are also something I plan to explore more of, perhaps you'll see one in a future edition of Soul Food...
