We won’t have organised Youth and Children’s work on Sundays over August as our wonderful teams and young people enjoy some rest, replenishment and a bit of space to do some planning ahead of an exciting Autumn term. With both leaders and young people taking holidays at different times, too, this serves as the best time to take these opportunities. This said, we’re very excited to be joining across the generations on Sundays over the summer and there will be some resources available to help us all access the gatherings together. Please continue to pray for our young people and leaders!

Please note:

  • We still have our wristbands available to indicate social contact preferences.

  • Our gatherings are livestreamed and you may occasionally appear on camera. If you cannot be filmed due to legal/safeguarding reasons, please do get in touch with us.

  • Whilst we do not take up an offering during the service, should you wish to give, we do have a secure offering box located by the main noticeboard in the foyer.

Parking on a Sunday

We have had some complaints from residents of Alwyn Road regarding double parking along each side of the road. Please be aware of where and how you park, and be considerate of our neighbours and local residents.

We are aware that parking isn't always easy around the village, but please note that there is a car park behind the Doctors surgery in the village (you may have to pay). If you are able to and live local, why not consider walking or biking to church! Thank you.

New Administration Team Leader

We are really pleased to announce to the church the appointment of a new Administration Team Leader: Alison Smith, she will begin her role on October 3rd!

Here is a little introduction ...

"Hi. I'm Alison and I've been worshipping at BEC since October 2021 with my husband Kevin. I have felt at home here almost immediately and we  have settled into our life group and made strong connections and friendships with so many of you.
I felt very convicted to come to BEC almost a year ago now and I knew that God had firmly placed it in my heart.
I am so privileged to have been given the opportunity to work with you all and support the team at BEC as the lead administrator. I look forward to starting my role in October and getting to know more of you. Please do come and say hi when you see me in Church."

We are really encouraged and looking forward to Alison joining the team from October with all that she will bring to the role, and as she says, please do say hello and welcome her.

UKRAINE FAMILY DAYS

We had a great time at our first two events: a day out at Draycote Water, and an afternoon of games and crafts at The BEC Centre.

Please pray for the families who came along and that we will continue to build friendships as they join us throughout the August holidays.

If you'd still like to volunteer, please contact Nicky Andrews or Pat Knight.

HTB MARRIAGE COURSE

As a church we believe God wants the best for all marriages. At BEC we believe God is calling us to have at the heart of our discipleship journey as a church the desire to see healthy marriages flourish. Whether married or single, we all have a role to play in this, in supporting, encouraging and

praying for one another.

We are really excited to tell you about a rolling programme of the HTB Marriage Course (as one of the tools we will be using to build stronger marriages) that will be run by BEC, the first one in the autumn commencing Tuesday 18th October 2022. It is a seven week course which will be held at BEC and run by Alf & Isobel Berridge.  We believe that relationships need working at and as such all couples should take the opportunity to take up the invitation to attend the marriage course.   We can facilitate 20 couples on each course, future course dates are to be set for 2023. Couples who have done it before will get a lot out of doing it again. As a church we then want to use the course as a way of providing a common language we use to encourage each other. Part of this will be the pairing up of couples in the future, after they have completed the course to encourage one another.  Marriage is a gift of God.

The 2 hour evening session will consist of watching the short HTB video/ talks, followed by an exercise/discussion you do as a couple (4-5 slots each evening).  It is a safe environment – what is discussed as a couple is private.

We as church have been following the Living Water series in our Sunday services.  Paul Rogers spoke about how the Holy Spirit renews and refreshes us and we feel that this is what God wants for the marriages at BEC.

So please save the date and look out for further information in the coming weeks.

Discipleship

Each Wednesday evening in August there are going to be alternative fellowship sessions for those whose Life Group is not meeting or those not in a Life Group. These will be run by Alison Autherson and held at BEC Woodlands Centre, 53 Cymbeline Way from 8pm to 9.30pm, however people are welcome to turn up and chat informally before and after the session. This is an opportunity to have fellowship, prayer and bible-based discussion with others at a time of year when connecting with others can be limited. Each session is standalone so you can join in whenever it suits. If possible, please let Alison know or email discipleship@becchurch.org.uk if you wish to join in.

Hi folks. Is anyone able to offer a room to a young Christian woman between August 13 - 27th? She serves as part of the Latymer Church with which we have connected, and is wanting to escape London for a short break this summer.

Any help in this respect is greatly appreciated. Please contact me (Paul Rogers) if you can help!
