Congratulations to Our Executive Director! Lisa McIntyre was selected to serve as one of ten international Ambassadors for Girls That Scuba, the world's largest women's SCUBA diving community. We could not be more proud of or excited for her - and cannot wait to see what this inspiring group of water women do. |

Our Coral Reefs Need Us! SeaSmart, and our partner Pan Aqua Diving in NYC, could not be more impressed by the 20 advocates from all over the country that participated in getting their PADI Coral Reef Conservation certification on August 31st! Pan Aqua, a top-rated, full service dive shop offering PADI classes and the best in SCUBA equipment, kindly donated a portion of the class fees to SeaSmart's scholarship fund. Now that's a win-win-win! |

This Is The News We Want to Hear! The United Kingdom just became the first European nation to ban the import and export of shark fins and any products containing them, including shark fin soup! (Those of you who have participated in a SeaSmart Ocean Conservation workshop know why this matters...we need these apex predators around to maintain balanced food chains and ecosystems in our oceans.) The ban should come into effect at the end of 2021, marking a milestone in the fight against the illegal shark fin trade. For more details: |

What is a SeaSmart Travel Program Like? That's a little hard to answer, because no two are the same...locations, conservation focus & efforts, and activities change every time. If you are considering joining us in Baja for Summer 2022, we will focus on sharks and rays. To get a visual idea of what our week in Utila was like, pop some popcorn and click below for a 20 minute adventure with us. (This was made by our Executive Director who is much better at other things than making videos, but it's a fun memory to have!). |

Bring the Ocean Into your classroom! We have a variety of classes and workshops that students really enjoy! While you are planning your school year, be sure to contact SeaSmart for interactive and engaging sessions to include in your lesson plans at no charge (a donation is always welcome, but not required!). We would love to come into your classrooms (in person or virtually) and engage with students about sharks, coral reefs, invasive species or any ocean conservation topics. For more information, email lisa.mcintyre@seasmartocean.org. |
