Spring Newsletter

May 2021

Dear Friends,

“Cristos a-nviat,” “Christ is Risen” is the greeting used in the rural parts of Romania from Resurrection Day until the Day of Ascension, which is 40 days later!

We are so glad that the long season of cold weather is finally over, we have had a full week of spring weather and it feels so wonderful!

What a blessing it has been to be able to help older people in need to get firewood for heat through the winter!

Just last Sunday we celebrated Easter in Romania, and the Baneasa community was blessed to hear the gospel through our first musical presented by the Community Center team and youth!

Only a few years back, these children, now teens, heard about Jesus for the first time, and now many of them confess Him as the Lord and Savior.

As the post-communist Eastern Orthodox Church demands it, most institutions are closed on days before and after Easter! You are considered cursed if you do any work during these days!

An interesting occurrence this year is also the fact that Ramadan coincided with the Orthodox Easter lent, for the most part.  This provided a great opportunity for us to minister and witness to both the Muslim and the Orthodox people as they were more available and open to a conversation during this season.

Many needy families and widows would not have been able to enjoy the holidays without our care packages of food and clothing provided through your faithful giving! We are conveying their gratitude to you all!

All the schools were closed entirely for a whole month (blaming Covid for that), and now the children will have to go to school well into July this year! Of course, there is no AC in their classrooms either! However, our community center continued to provide teaching and mentoring support to our students during this long pause.

Education is one of the greatest needs in Romania! Just recently, our entire high school was closed permanently by the government except for one class of just 30 students! The parents and we are very concerned for the future education of these children!

We are praying and asking the Lord for direction as to how we could help our community! We invested a lot in this young generation, and we would like to be able to provide scholarships for the children whose lives were changed! Please pray with us that their faith will remain strong in the Lord, and they would receive godly wisdom and spiritual guidance for their future.

Well digging season has just started!  We mounted the equipment, and we began digging our first well. Mike is very impressed with the results so far!

We are all delighted to be able to provide this underestimated commodity that will bring health and wellbeing to our nearby communities!

One final note:

We have received many requests lately for updates, videos, and other things. Please know that we are doing our best to keep you updated via quarterly newsletters, our website, servingromania.org, and many posts on our Facebook page: Mike and Ana Dascalescu Serving Romania.

We fully understand that there are a lot of staff changes in many churches, and new pastors will need to be brought up to date. Yet, it is very hard for us to respond to every request. Until we get more help, please be patient with us! We really appreciate it!

Once again, we thank you for your continued sacrificial giving and your constant prayer support! We highly appreciate it and are convinced that we could have never accomplished any of the work had it not been for our faithful, united, loving partnership!

Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be firm, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. 1Cor.15:58

We love you and are praying for you!

Mike and Ana Dascalescu

Please continue to pray for us!

  • Pray for our health - we are so grateful for it! The Lord has protected us in a supernatural way!
  • Pray for our soon coming helpers, Todd Broski, the Jackson family, and the Huelsebusch family.
  • Pray for their clearance, fundraising, and timely arrival to join our team.
  • Pray for our school children and all our ministries.
  • Pray for the new converts that they will have the courage to take the steps of discipleship and freedom of confessing Jesus as their Savior!
  • Pray for those who continue to oppose us; pray for their spiritual eyes to be open and for their hearts to soften to the Truth of the Word of God!

Thank you again!
