December 20, 2019

I hope this December issue provides new thought-provoking ideas to help you through your caregiving day.

A Relatable Occurance

To this day, I am still discovering hobbies and various things I enjoyed but had to let go of because my state of mind was so challenged with caregiving. Here is a personal note written by a Forgive and Forget Member that I'd like to share with you because I'm sure we can all relate.

She writes:

"I just got home from a very long but happy day.  Actually made it to an art class with my friend Heather! She was teaching a particular watercolor class that I missed last year due to my mindset in taking care of my friend Lana with Alzheimer's.

I realized I had not picked up a brush in two years, Vic, due to how hard life was back then!  Egads, another part of my life I hadn't realized I had put on hold!!!"

The Universe Has Your Back

"Trying To Control Something

I Absolutely Cannot Control"

In this 20 minute Super Soul Session video, Gabrielle gives 5 tips to help us accept our lives as they are, rather than resisting, wishing or demanding our lives be different.

Though her circumstance appears very different from ours, it really isn't.  We can always find parallel threads in someone else's story, and I found a teacher in Gabrielle.

Try not to get hung up on words that may be alien or woo-foo. Substitute verbiage more comfortable to you if need be, i.e., "Universe" vs. "God." "Spirit" vs. "Soul." "Spiritual" vs" "Faith," etc.

Be courageous, openhearted and open-minded to Gabrielle's words and wisdom. They will give you a sense of relief, safety and the true knowing you are exactly on the path you should be, even if it is the most difficult path on the planet as a caregiver.

                                     -Vic

Grief And The Holidays

Mom was unable to come over for our usual, small Thanksgiving dinner. However, I was okay, at least I thought I was. What I didn’t expect was for Grief to slither in the next day and the days following. It wrapped itself around my entire being and squeezed hard.
