Well, one thing that happened was Sid over-committed herself and took in 4 extra medical cases (and she still had Peep for most of the month)!
JK on the over-commitment but it was a crazy month!
Bob: we took in Bob New Year's Eve - he was rescued from an abuse situation where his tail was cut off and he was attacked by what we assume was a dog. He was stitched up by Minn-kota PAAWS and is not available for adoption and the most sweet/loving boy <3.
Robyn Sparkles: an 8-month-old pregnant mama cat. We were happy to take Miss Sparkles in so she can have her kittens in a warm/safe environment with any extra assistance she may need. She gave birth to 5 kittens on January 27th, 4 of those kittens were healthy, but unfortunately the first was stillborn.
Tres (as in uno, dos, tres): Tres was a medical surrender, his owner could not afford his medical needs. He had a leg injury that wasn't healing, and his leg was rotting off his body. We spoke with our vet and the best solution was a full leg amputation. He is healing up and doing great!
Morgan: this special kitty was brought to us by a good Samaritan that live-trapped Morgan after they noticed that she was injured. Her back legs appeared to be non-functional and at first we were so worried the only option would be euthanasia as she was so badly injured. But the x-ray showed things might not be as bad as they seem! With some medical care and TLC she already gained some function in her back legs! She can stand to eat now! She may still need one amputation, and her future isn't certain, but we are hopeful!
Peep Update: Peep was still not improving steadily at our rescue so we found this amazing rescue that works with medical cases like Peep's and they believe he has zero sphincter function and will need prolonged care. The rescue that took him in is We 3 Besties in New Prague, MN, being located closer to the Minneapolis/St.Paul area they have access to more specialized care then we do in rural MN!
