Winter Appeal - Give the Gift of Play

Our October Impact

In October, we ran 30 sessions, facilitating 64 hours of play, and reaching 142 children. We're currently running six sessions a week at the informal camps in Loon-Plage, near Dunkirk, alongside 1-2 sessions at the Secours Catholique community centre in Calais.

Autumn, Bugs & Musical Guests

Inspired by the colourful changes in nature at this time of year, we swapped pom poms and stickers for conkers and flower petals to facilitate creative activities around the theme of Autumn.

We also dedicated a week to exploring the wonderful world of minibeasts through observation, art and books - and even brought in some real life bugs for the children to look at!*

This month we were also joined by the amazing Wind Up Penguin, who inspired us with their spectacular interactive musical performance, ‘The Enchanted Campfire.’

*All minibeasts were safely returned home after sitting for a portrait.

Advocacy Update

This month, there's been a significant increase in the number of eviction operations in living sites in northern France, which is particularly concerning as we enter the harsh winter months. A year on from the horrific tragedy that saw at least 31 people lose their lives in the Channel, we continue to stand in solidarity with all those living on the border. Our latest advocacy report documents some key observations from our ground team over recent months, the new France-UK deal that was announced last week and the need for safe and legal routes for all those seeking asylum.

Support Us this Winter

By the end of this year, we'll have provided nearly 300 sessions, facilitated 665 hours of play, and reached at least 1200 children. None of this was possible without your help, and in order to keep playing in 2023, we need your support!

Donate

A donation, big or small, makes a huge difference. Every penny goes to providing safe spaces for children to play, grow and be themselves.
