Ventfort Hall Mansion and Gilded Age Museum
Rebecca Anne LoCicero warmed up the spirits of the mansion with another amazing "Messages from Heaven" presentation before our group paranormal investigation. Before guests had arrived, I was testing out a new technology to vet it for paranormal investigations. For years we have been trying to get the name of the little girl spirit to no avail. Many years ago, when we asked her for her name, we recorded a very sad "I can't". Well, that did not deter us. Christiana and I thought of that little girl and of her voice that we recorded throughout the year. After a minute of thinking of her, I turned on the device and asked the little girl for her name. Immediately after, we were stunned to hear a very clear and articulate, "My name is Ella."
One of our guests took a photograph of a shadowy figure in front of a window in Mr. Morgan's room. (We hope they will share that photo.) Another surprise was in store for us in the Billiard Room. As usual, we brought two billiard balls with us and in an effort to recharge the environment, I spent a minute or two banging the two balls together to recreate the sound of a game of billiards. About twenty minutes later, several of us had heard the sound of a cue stick hitting a ball and then a ball hit another. Yes, we were able to record that on audio!
The oddest thing that night was a strange phenomenon that occurred in the dining room. I thought that I had stumbled a little bit as I was walking. But, I soon noticed that I did not stumble, but I was getting pulled in a certain direction when I walked by a certain spot. I had walked back and forth many times and felt the same phenomenon. This does sound strange, but it is eerily similar to another event several years ago in the 'nursery' room. During that event, six or seven of us were swaying in unison for some unknown reason. What is that? I don't have a clue, there are some things that still surprise me.
We have yet to finish reviewing evidence from this night. I'm sure we will have a number of interesting audio clips from that investigation to share. So, please stay tuned...

Fort Adams
We had a very interesting year at Fort Adams in 2022, our last investigation of the year was no different. The day was off to a bad start when our special guest investigator was very ill and had lost her voice, but we made the best of a bad situation and kept one group together for the entire evening. That gave us so much flexibility to move around the fort as we wanted.
In the usually active former bowling alley, several guests were stunned to see multiple shadow figures at the back of the space. This was when most of us were focused on the laser grid activity at the actual old bowling lanes. We heard some gasps and heard the rumblings of surprised guests.
The tunnels were unusually quiet for this investigation, but we did have one person getting touched rather significantly on her shoulders. She was hesitant to mention it in front of the entire group, but I was pulled aside, and she demonstrated exactly what she had felt.
The Phasmabox was very chatty that night, for what we lacked in unexplained lights, and pebbles getting thrown - we made up for in Phasmabox fun. We will go through all the recordings and post the intelligent responses. Of course, the most surprising responses came from an old latrine area, believe it or not. I don't want to investigate bathrooms, but that was an interesting evening.

Ventfort Hall Mansion and Gilded Age Museum
Wow! That's all I can say about our final group paranormal investigation for 2022. The mansion was the most active we have seen in all of our years there. Every room was a hotbed of paranormal activity from beginning to the end! There was not one location or period of time where it was quiet.
The day started out very promising, as we were setting up there was a photo shoot going on at the mansion. As we were downstairs, I heard the sound of surprised people on the second floor. I smirked as I knew what that meant, they had just met a resident spirit at Ventfort. They had seen a shadow figure moving on the second floor.
In the nursery, we were receiving many messages from guests' loved ones. That will happen from time to time, but on this day, it was incredible. Several of our guests were having their names called (first and last). It is always inspiring to be able to have technology that allows for this to happen on occasion.
For the first time that I can remember, Suzie was actually cooperative! I don't know what got into her, but I hope that it keeps up. Of course, we heard from many of our friends such as: Ella, Annie Shaw, Bruce, and the Morgans.
During the evening, both groups heard the sound of a phantom piano at different times. Guests were getting touched and many people felt so much energy throughout the mansion. It was an investigation where so much had happened and it is difficult to recall so much of it - but we will listen to the recordings and provide a more comprehensive report of the evening.

Shanley Hotel
This event was not on our public calendar as this was a small private event with some of our friends. We had a public group paranormal investigation at this location in the past, and I'm thinking it's about time we return for a public investigation. The great thing is that there is no early-morning drive home, you can simply sleep after investigating.
I had so much fun investigating that I forgot to go to bed and several of us stayed up for the entire night! It's been several years since I pulled an all-nighter and I was happy to experience so much activity past the so-called "witching hour".
The basement again is a source of excitement. I was standing alone in a little room away from the other guests. I was not alone, however. I was hearing footsteps in the small, dark space before I felt the energy immediately behind me.
On the third floor, I made a big mistake in Joe's Room. Joe was an alleged mobster and reportedly killed others as part of his misdeeds. Joe has been cooperative with us in the past, and I don't know what I was thinking, but I asked what Joe had done with his victim's bodies. I guess I didn't remember the memo not to ask a hitman where he hid his victims. I had asked if he placed some in the makeshift morgue in the basement as was done in the winter months - and the Phasmabox responded "Yes." It was shortly after that where I felt a very strong energy by my side. I started to get dizzy and I was getting very sick. It's not often I leave a space, but I did not feel welcomed at that point. I left the space to gather my thoughts. When I came back upstairs, I still did not feel welcomed and stood at the threshold of the room.
Claire's room was strong as usual. It usually has a very overwhelming sense of sadness and that hit us throughout our time there. I kept getting touched on the head, neck and hands throughout our time there. One of the touches I felt was a very playful touch of my hair. It almost felt as if one of my friends at the hotel's former bordello was letting me know they were there. Wait! What? Yes, there is a former bordello there and we had a very interesting encounter there several years ago.
Well, I mentioned it, so we spent a considerable amount of time in the bordello. How often can one say that?! The space was quieter than usual, but we had a ton of fun laughing and telling stories. We were using the Phasmabox and we clearly heard "Spirit box". Well, I turned on the spirit box and placed headphones on my ear and heard two gentleman having a conversation with one another. It seems they were using me as a conduit for their reunion and it was very interesting.
Several people had odd experiences at the scrying mirror. I didn't do it this time as I did not enjoy my last experience. Before my own eyes, my face was changing and aging considerably.
Around 4am, people started to turn in for the night. Several guests were intersted in investigating more, so I was happy to indulge them. We went back into Joe's room. I still felt unwelcomed at first, but I made my peace with Joe with surprising results. Almost immediately, the room became very active. There was considerable shadow movement in the room. At first the shadow was tentative hiding in the corner and moving from one end of the room to the other, before it started to interact with us. Then, I sensed what I felt was a very ominous presence in Jonathan's room, that is adjacent to Joe's room. I saw a shadow standing in the doorway and it felt very odd. I felt like I was in a stare down with this entity and my instincts were telling me that something was not quite right.
Later we were seeing light play in Jonathan's Room. A very bright red light that was slowly moving in the room and at one point getting close to the open doorway. A very pale white light was also moving amongst the darkness of the space.
The Phasmabox was very active in Joe's Room and I apologized profusely to Joe for overstepping my bounds and inquiring about his victim's whereabouts. After I apologized, I felt as if Joe took his usual spot by the chair that is often called his chair. The K2 meter was consistently lighting up and I felt a now-calm energy there. I thanked Joe for his hospitality and to our surprise, he told us that we welcome to come back to his room.
Around 6:30 a strange and sweet smell entered the space. At first it was centered around two guests, but then it moved to where I was sitting. I was trying to find out the source of the smell and walked out of the room and did not smell it at all. I then discovered that the smell was within a small, confined 'blob' and did not diminish over time. We smelled it for a good half-hour. It remained when we decided to call it an investigation and head downstairs for some breakfast.
